ESS EXTRA!!
Clinton County Raceway, Mackeyville, Pa.
The 1/3rd mile oval will be providing a little history as the 25th Anniversary Tour for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) will be making its maiden voyage to the Fairgrounds in Mackeyville, Pa. After several promoters have tried to get this neat little oval above water, Vern Wasson has brought in his magic that he has provided at his first track, the Woodhull Raceway, and provided a bright future.
Winged sprint cars roam here just about every Friday evening but on the night with the invasion of ESS comes its biggest show in the history of the track. A mix of ESS tour regulars and the local contingent will make for an unique rivalry.
The oval has fairly long straits with tight corners. The infield is kept clear with the pits located off turns one and two. The bleacher sections run the length of the front stretch on a slight hill. The main aspect of Clinton County is the fun family atmosphere.
Drivers of local interest will be former ESS hot shoe George Suprick, Bobby Howard, Neil Petock, Matt Miller and the famed Heimbach bros. With its location, fans will also expect a few surprises in the field with the $2,000 to win purse.
