$20,000 TO WIN WORLD OF OUTLAWS SUMMER NATIONALS JULY 18-19
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The best sprint car drivers in the country
will converge on Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday, July
18-19, for the Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals sanctioned by the
World of Outlaws.
Both nights will include time trials, heat races, a dash and a
B-main along with feature events.
Friday night's feature will be 25 laps in distance and will pay
$8000 to win.
Saturday night's Summer Nationals finale will be 30 laps in
distance and will pay $20,000 to win.
A fireworks display will follow Saturday night's racing.
Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 7:45 both nights.
The Outlaws will be led by defending series champion Donny Schatz
of Fargo, North Dakota. Schatz is also the defending Summer Nationals
champion and has won five of his last eight starts at Williams Grove.
While Schatz will be seeking his first Grove victory of 2008, two
other Outlaws have already won at the historic half-mile this season.
Craig Dollansky of Elk River, Minnesota, made a surprise appearance
for an unsanctioned race in March and scored a convincing flag-to-flag
victory over the Grove regulars known as the Pennsylvania Posse.
Dollansky is in the midst of his best year on the Outlaw tour and
will enter the Summer Nationals as one of the favorites.
Twenty-time series champion Steve Kinser of Bloomington, Indiana,
certainly can not be overlooked, especially since he won the only WoO
sanctioned event at Williams Grove this season.
Current Cindy Rowe Auto Glass point leader Fred Rahmer appears to
be the best bet among the local drivers.
Rahmer has once again emerged as the class of the East after
recently claiming his 11th Pennsylvania Speed Week title, winning twice
and setting fast time in four of the five races.
Rahmer was the 2005 Summer Nationals champion and owns six Williams
Grove World of Outlaws victories.
Some reserved seats remain for the Summer Nationals and credit card
orders are accepted at 717.697.5000.
Williams Grove Speedway is located ten miles south of Harrisburg
off Routes 15 or 74
