Todd Stewart Set to Hit the Road for 2008 Lucas Oil Modified Series
By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications
The bags are packed and the team is ready for a road trip. Fresh off the success of their first 2008 victory, DIRTcar 358 modified stock car driver Todd Stewart will be logging some long distance travel miles, in search of the pot of gold that waits for this year’s Lucas Oil Canadian Dirt Challenge Series Champion. The Bath, Ontario racer will be on-hand when the tour begins Friday, July 18th at Autodrome Granby, just outside of Montreal. Stewart says he’s pumped about following the lucrative 6 race series of events that brings out some of the best talent from either side of the border.
“We haven’t done any extensive travelling in a number of years, so I’m really excited to see how this plays out for the team,” said Stewart after his win Saturday, July 5th at Brockville Speedway. “Glenn (car owner/crew chief Glenn Stewart) and I talked about doing this last year, but we just never found the momentum we were looking for with our Saturday night program to have enough confidence to do any travelling. Following any ‘series’ can be tough, but this year we’re ready.”
With sponsor support in 2008 from Red Line Oil/Re-Max Realty Concepts Real Estate-Penny Blake/B & G Trailer Sales/Anchor Concrete Products/Interprovincial Insulation/Latimer’s Equipment/Dig ‘n Dirt/OSSO Electric Supplies/Fort Glass/Kwik Kopy Printing, Kingston/ Southeastern Telecommunications/ Northwood 2 Construction and RW Electric, the team certainly has their ducks in a row on the marketing front.
“Each event pays $3000 to win – and $350 just to take the green,” Stewart continued. “Those are some pretty healthy paydays, but we expect each show to draw more than 40 cars so getting into the field could be a real battle all its own.”
Following the Granby event, the series shifts to Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Quebec Saturday, July 19th. Then, it’s a demanding stretch of 4 races in as many days – beginning Thursday, July 31st at Mohawk International Raceway at Hogansburg, New York. Friday, August 1st at Autodrome Edelweiss. Saturday, August 2nd at Brockville and Sunday, August 3rd at Cornwall Motor Speedway.
The crew has gone over their 2008 TEO Pro Car with a fine tooth comb and Todd Stewart is confident they’ll find success on the 2008 edition of the Lucas Oil Canadian Dirt Challenge.
