Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Announcer John Gibson To Be Profiled Friday Night On SPEED’s ‘For the Love of Racing’

CONCORD, N.C. — July 17, 2008 — Since 1995 only one person has attended every single Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event. Considering the thousands and thousands of miles and the rigors of the road, it’s an ongoing and unreal streak that will most likely never be topped. Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on SPEED, a new show titled “For the Love of Racing” will profile that man, Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws announcer John Gibson.

Gibson recently worked his 1,100th consecutive Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws event, the majority of them from behind the mic where many know him as “The Voice of the Outlaws.” For more than 13 years Gibson has traveled up and down highways, logging nearly three-quarters of a million miles, to bring fans in the stands and those listening at home on the Dirt Radio Network at DIRTVision.com all of the action from “The Greatest Show on Dirt.”

To highlight his achievement, SPEED cameras followed Gibson during last week’s Brad Doty Classic and will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at everything Gibson does on a race night, from preparing rosters and programs in the afternoon to starting the feature with his signature call to broadcasting all of the action through the checkered flag.

“For the Love of Racing” is a 30-minute show that tells the stories of people who possess a special passion and devotion to motorsports while offering unique insight into grassroots racing in America. Through host Ken Schrader, viewers will experience the actions and emotions of those who contribute to the sport and gain an appreciation for the sacrifices made for the love of racing.

Gibson will be profiled by SPEED at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Friday, July 18.

The following afternoon at 1 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, SPEED will air its coverage of the 25th Annual Kings Royal from Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway. A controversial start to the night led to high drama in the pits while teams tried to keep their focus on the $50,000 top prize and a shot at one of racing’s crown jewels. Make sure to tune into SPEED on Saturday at 1 p.m. Eastern for all the drama of the 25th Annual Kings Royal.
