Felmlee and Dellinger "Double Up", Russell King and Brandon Spithaler Capture First 2008 Wins, Curtis and Jeff Johnson Repeat
Hartford, OH July 19, 2008 Eight feature events, kids' bike races and E-Mod autographs were just a few of the activities that took place at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, July 19th. In the three feature events that were held over from last Saturday Bob Felmlee, Jeff Johnson and Russell King brought home the checkered flags. Regularly scheduled "Fantastic Five" racing action saw Bob Felmlee "Double Up" and collect the victory laurels in the Warren Harley-Davidson 410 Sprint Division. "Mr. Versatility" Alan Dellinger was victorious in both the Tom's Sewer and Drain Service E-Mod and the Tight-Seal Glass Block Pure Stock feature events while Brandon Spithaler celebrated his first Limited Sprint victory of the season. In addition Rob Curtis captured his second Gibson-Governor Insurance Agency Modified feature win in 2008.

Bob Felmlee picked up his third Sharon Speedway Warren Harley-Davidson feature win of the season as he took the lead from Russ Sansosti on lap eight of the evening's opening feature event and cruised to the checkered flag. Sansosti led the first seven laps before a caution for Mike Palmer slowed the field and placed Felmlee on Sansosti's rear bumper. Felmlee was able to get by Sansosti on the next lap and held on for the win. The action behind Felmlee found Sansosti battling veterans Gary Edwards and Dan Shetler and youngster Cale Conley for positions second through fifth. Mechanical problems would sideline both Sansosti and Edwards as the laps wound down. At the checkered flag Shetler had to settle for the runner-up spot with Conley having a career best third place finish. Shawn Minor and Mike Kekich completed the top five.

In the regularly scheduled Warren Harley-Davidson Sprint feature Felmlee once again found himself in the Hovis Auto and Truck Supply Victory Lane. Veterans Bob Lime and Leo O'Malley led the 21 car field to the green flag. Lime would lead the first circuit however he spun in turn four on the following circuit allowing Felmlee to assume the lead. Felmlee once again pulled ahead of his fellow drivers and went on to collect his fourth Sharon Speedway feature win in the World of Wheels/Vinyl Graphics Unlimited/Car-Mate Trailers sponsored machine. Central PA visitor Doug Dodson had a terrific second place finish in his first ever visit to the Hartford, OH oval. Jimmy Hawley, Dan Shetler and Bill Jones Jr. completed the top five.
Hawley and Shetler captured the Sprint heat race events held earlier in the evening. In addition Rob Eyler of Franklin, PA was uninjured in a nasty flip in turn two that occurred while he was leading the second heat race event.

In just his third night of competition since returning to the Big Block Modified ranks Russell King captured a feature win. Rex King Jr. and Carl Murdick led the Gibson-Governor Insurance Agency Modified feature to the green flag with King Jr. leading the first 11 laps. A caution for Randy Brown put older brother Russell right on Rex Jr.'s rear bumper. When the green flag flew it was Russell overtaking Rex Jr. Russell King would lead the final 13 circuits to pick up his first feature victory of 2008. Rex King Jr. held on for a career best second place finish. Del Rougeux Jr., Dave Murdick and Tim Doran completed the top five.

Dean Pearson and Skip Moore led the second Gibson-Governor Insurance Agency Modified feature to the green. Pearson grabbed the lead with Moore settling into the second spot. By the second lap of the event seventh place starter Rob Curtis had overtaken Moore and set his sites on Pearson. Curtis was slowly reeling Pearson in when a caution for Mark Felicetty gave him the opportunity he was looking for. Curtis got by Pearson for lead on the next circuit and began to pull away from the field. The event's final caution on lap 14 for the disabled car of Rob Kristyak, would give current points leader and fellow Troyer Chassis teammate Dave Murdick an opportunity to challenger Curtis however the Greenville, PA driver withstood Murdick's pressure and claimed his second Modified feature win at the Hartford, OH oval. Murdick brought home the runner-up spot with Russell King claiming third. Del Rougeux Jr. finished fourth with Rex King Jr. in fifth.

The King Brothers (Rex King Jr. and Russell King) took the checkered flags in modified heat race action.

Evans City, PA youngster Brandon Spithaler is never happy when he finishes second. Well this evening Spithaler was "all smiles" as his perseverance paid off. The "invert 8" redraw found Spithaler starting in the seventh spot of the 20 lap feature event even though he was victorious in his heat race. The determined teenager methodically worked his way through the field to overtake Rob Felix, who had led the event from the start, on lap 12. Spithaler would lead the eight remaining circuits, despite a dislodged nose wing, to capture a very well deserved victory. The victory also enabled Spithaler to overtake defending divisional champion Guy Griffin in the 2008 points chase. Divisional Rookie Rob Felix held on for the second spot with Andy Paden, Pete Miller III and A.J. Albrecht rounding out the top five.

In addition to Spithaler, Jim Morris III captured a Limited Sprint heat race event win.

Jeff Johnson captured the rained out Tom's Sewer and Drain E-Mod Feature as he jumped into the lead on the initial start and led the entire 15-lap feature event. Tim Deutsch, who started in the tenth spot, battled Alan Dellinger and Bob McCann in the final laps but was able to hold on to the second spot. Dellinger, McCann and Rob Conner completed the top five.

"Mr. Versatility" Alan Dellinger captured the evening's final two feature events. In the regularly scheduled E-Mod feature Dellinger got by Scott Jones on lap eight and went onto claim his fifth Sharon Speedway E-Mod victory of the season. Jones held off veteran Bob McCann to claim the second spot with McCann, Jeff Johnson and Scott Stiffler completing the top five.

Dwayne Clay, Jeff Sharp and Dellinger won the E-mod prelims.

Dellinger then jumped into his #70B Pure Stock ride for the evening's final feature event. Bill Hanna led the first circuit with Charlie Jasinski leading laps two through ten. Jasinski appeared to be headed to victory when mechanical woes forced him to the infield. Dellinger then took over and would lead the final five laps to bring home his second win of the evening and his fifth Sharon Speedway Pure Stock victory of the season. Points leader Bill Hanna had another great second place finish with Gary Robinson, Allan Hudzik and Mike Aley rounding out the top five.

Jasinski, Robinson and Hanna were victorious in the Tight-Seal Glass Block Pure Stock heat races for the 23-car field.

Next Saturday, July 26th will find the World of Outlaws Late Models dropping in for their annual visit to the Hartford, OH oval. In addition to the exciting Late Model action the Tight Seal Glass Block Pure Stocks will also be in competition.
