Sarver, PA (July 29, 2008) After two washed out attempts to run day two of the 2nd Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com at the end of June, the Lernerville Speedway will play host to the World of Outlaws Late Model Series tonight for the finale of the biggest late model race of the summer. The forecast looks perfect with no rain in sight!
The World of Outlaws Late Model Series is coming off a successful extended weekend of racing action in the Alltel Ohio Speedweek. The swing started on Thursday at Muskinghum where Steve Francis won the Pepsi 40. The Outlaws invaded Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway on Friday where Earl Pearson Jr. stole the Subway 50 from the touring regulars. The teams crossed the state to Sharon Speedway on Saturday. Rain delayed the show by a few hours but it didn’t dampen Donnie Moran’s spirits, as the Ohio-native inherited the lead on lap 44 and took the checkers for his first WoO LMS win of the season. Sunday it was off to Eriez Speedway in Northwestern PA where Steve Francis bookended the Alltel Ohio Speedweek with a win in the 50-lap finale.
The win puts Francis atop the World of Outlaws Late Model Series all time leader board with 17 career A-Main wins. The “Kentucky Colonel” is red hot, but does not have any wins at Lernerville Speedway in the modern era of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. He is, however, guaranteed a top six starting position in the $40,000-to-win Firecracker 100 A-Main feature and has to be considered a favorite to pick up the big check when the checker flies!
Joining Francis in the top six will be Shane Clanton, Earl Pearson Jr., Josh Richards, Darrell Lanigan and Brian Birkhofer . The following drivers are also locked into the A-Main, which pays $40,000 and $3000 to start; Coleby Frye and Brandon Kinzer on row four, Billy Moyer and Donnie Moran on row five, Tim Fuller and Chub Frank on row six, Shannon Babb and Mike Blose from row seven, Gregg Satterlee and Chris Madden on row eight, and Jeremy Miller and Tim McCreadie in row nine. The other six positions will be filled by the top three finishers from each B-Main.
Tickets and pit wristbands from the original dates will be honored on Tuesday July 29. Actually, they will be upgraded! Any fan with a ticket or wristband from the original race on June 27-28 will be allowed to upgrade to a FREE pit pass and will also receive a $10 voucher good towards the purchase of any GottaRace.com merchandise purchased through their website at www.GottaRace.com.
A limited amount of reserved seats are still available by clicking on the “Buy Tickets Now” link on our website www.Lernerville.com, by calling the speedway office 9:00AM-4:00PM at (724)353-1511 or by simply walking up to the gates tonight. One-day advance reserved seats are selling for $34 for adults, $33 for Seniors and $31.50 for children 17 & under. General Admission prices $32.50 for adults $31 for seniors, $30 for students 11-17 and children under 10 years old are FREE. Pit Passes are $35 for DIRT members and $40 for non-members. Newly purchased general admission tickets are not eligible for the Free Pit Pass upgrade.
Pit gates will open at 4:00PM, grandstand gates open at 5:00PM and racing begins at 8:00PM. Tonight’s schedule includes the C-Main (if necessary), two B-Mains, the Uncle Sam 30 non-qualifiers race, then finally the Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com Driver Introductions and 100-lap A-Main feature event. If the heat races from June were any indication of the action that will unfold tonight, you won’t want to miss this show!
