Granville, Pa. After taking a week off due to the Troy Fair, Redline Raceway was ready for yet another exciting night of stock car racing action. 5 classes were set and ready to perform for the very faithful Redline crowd. The first division to compete were the Mini Stocks. 14 Minis were staged and ready to invade the Raceway. Shane Brown along with Mike Navone set the pace for the feature field to the green. Larry Colton who started 3rd on the grid wasted no time and ran to the front on the first lap. The action behind the leader was heating up as A.J Potrzebowski moved into 4th running position by lap 3 and on the next circuit Ed Hulslander moved inside Mike Navone to take the second spot. Mid way through the Mini feature event Larry Colton held a solid advantage over Hulslander, and Potrzebowski who were still running second and third. A.J. Potrzebowski kept working on Hulslander and finally was able to make a move to the inside off turn 3 on lap 14 to take over the second position. Larry Colton proved to be the one to beat as he led from flag to flag to take his first feature win of the season. A.J. Potrzebowski crossed the stripe in second and Ed Hulslander rounded out the top three. The Front wheel drive Hobby Stocks were on deck next to run their 20 lap feature. The green flag fell over the field and young Tyler Deeghan took the top position right away. With Deeghan leading the fight for second was was a good one. Andrew Doorman and James Belcher ran side by side from lap 4 to lap 9. Belcher was finally able to edge ahead of Doorman and take sole possession of second spot. Belcher was not satisfied with second as he ran down Deeghan on lap 10. Deeghan and Belcher ran neck and neck for the lead. Belcher on the next lap around was able to make a run to the inside of Deeghan out of the 4th turn and take the lead away. The battle continued for second as Deeghan, Doorman, and Kurtis Benjamin all ran hard for that second spot. The leader remained to be Belcher, the battle for second was finally won by Doorman, with Benjamin settling in third, Deeghan slid back to 4th. James Belcher went on to take his second feature win of the season. Andrew Doorman took second, and Kurtis Benjamin rounded out the top three. The front three crossed the scales during post race inspection and the Doorman machine did not make the minimum required weight and was disqualified. That inherited third to Tyler Deeghan. The "Mighty" Modifieds were staged and ready to do battle for their 25 lap event. Slowly the Modifieds crawled onto the raceway being led by Ricky Yetter and Russ Zimmerman who paced the 20 car field to the green flag start. Yetter jumped out in front first with Russ Zimmerman second and Mike Schane third. Following a caution on lap three, Schane was able to out muscle Yetter down the back chute for the lead. Yetter suddenly made a hard turn to the pits between turns 3 and 4. Schane continued to show the way with J.T. McKernan running in second and Chris Shupp holding down third. Shupp drove hard to the inside of McKernan on lap 13 coming off turn 4 to take over second. Kevin Hartnett who started 10th was moving in on Shupp by lap 16 to challenge for that second position. Hartnett ran to the inside of Shupp coming off turn 2 and took the position away heading down the back straight. Mike Schane went on in a dominating performance to take his first feature win in 2008. Kevin Hartnett crossed in second and Josh Purcell by a bumper took third over Chris Shupp who settled for 4th. The Nationally Sanctioned I.M.C.A. Modifieds were on deck next. 17 I.M.C.A.s paced themselves to the green with Brad Butcher and Ty Hurlbut showing the way. After a early caution on lap one "The Dangerous One" Don Cole found himself out front of the pack with Ed Sites running a close second. Sites ran inside of Cole off the second turn to take the top spot on lap 2. Sites led the field to a restart after a caution on lap 4 with Ray McClure running second and the 11k of Mark Griffin in third. Griffin off turn 2 made his way to second position as he ran inside of Ray McClure off turn 2. Griffin was starting to put pressure on Sites for the lead by lap 8. Griffin ran hard to the inside of Sites in turn 1 and Griffin lost the handle and caution waved over the field. The 11k would continue but in the round out position. Sites ran to the green again with McClure in second and Scott Bennett trailing in third. Bennett would suffer mechanical problems in turn 2. Ed Sites went on to survive several more cautions to take his first ever I.M.C.A. feature win with Ray McClure crossing in second and Lyle Smith who had a rough night rebounded to take third. The final feature was set to go in the staging area. 21 Pure Stocks were anxious to try their luck and take home 450 dollars that would go to the lucky driver who could survive 20 laps and take the checkers. Lee Vinson with Bobby Maynard set the pace to the start. Maynard took the early lead but would suffer mechanical troubles and be forced to pit 5 laps into the event. Brad Butcher took the top position by lap 6 with Nick "at night " Robinson running in second and the veteran Gene Sharpsteen trailing in third. Robinson on lap 8 challenged Butcher for the lead. Robinson took the spot away on lap 10 with Butcher and Sharpsteen battling side by side for the second position. Sharpsteen took second from Butcher for good on lap 11 powering ahead down the back stretch. Two laps later the Sharpsteen machine pulled to the infield with a flat tire and also apparent mechanical problems. Robinson still the leader with Butcher back to second took the green once again. Chad Ely moved alongside of Butcher on the back straight and took over the second spot. The hard charging Ely with two laps remaining moved inside Robinson coming off turn 4 to take the lead. Robinson battled back down the front stretch heading into turns 1 and 2. Robinson on the final lap was able to pull back out in front of Ely and take home the 450 dollars as he crossed the stripe. Ely finished second and Terry Potrzebowski quietly crossed the finish line in third. Redline Raceway will be in full swing this Friday night. The night will be special to many as the memories of Scott Cole and Bill May will be honored. The gates open at 5 warm ups at 7 racing at 8 p.m. There is still many races left in the 2008 season but the race to the championship is winding down.
