Thunder Mountain Speedway Results from August 1, 2008

Jim LaRock took home his first AutoWorks of Ithaca Sportsmen-Modified feature win at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle NY on Friday night. LaRock drove under early leader Kenny Hammond on the eighth lap to take the lead. LaRock was able to open up a comfortable lead while current point leader Eddie White worked his way through the field. White caught Hammond for second place on the last lap. At the checkers it was LaRock taking his first win with White second, Hammond third, Gary Card Jr., fourth and Brian White fifth.
Tom Eiklor continued to dominate the Hunt's Auto Service IMCA Modified division picking up the feature win. Eiklor passed early race leader Chris Fleming to take the lead on the third lap and cruised to the win. Fleming finished second with Jerry Lobdell third, K.C. Cole fourth and Don Reeves fifth.
A full field of Hunt's Auto Service Hurricane Street Stocks took a while to get things going as the early stages of the race were plagued by cautions. Between bouts with yellow fever, Billy Rampe jumped out to the early lead. Bob Mills, driving his brother Buck's car, got by Hammond on lap five to take the lead. A single file restart spread the field and allowed a string of green flag racing and gave Mike Wilbur and Clayton Ingraham a chance to move through the field and challenge Mills for the lead. Mills held on to take his first win of the season with Wilbur finishing second, Ingraham third, Scott Smith fourth and Randy Marsh fifth.
Nate Degraw capitalized on his pole position start to take the lead and the win in the 4 Cylinder Super Stock feature event. Kyle Hackett finished second with Jim Money third, Jay Johnson fourth and Jason Beebe fifth.
Austin Welch took the early lead in the 15 lap Road Bandit feature event. Welch had Jeremie Hale Sr., pressuring him through the early stages of the race until the tenth lap when Matt Tripp got past Hale for second. With Tripp now in second a full contact battle for the lead began with Tripp slipping by Welch with two laps to go. On the last lap Tripp went high through turns three and four allowing Welch and third place runner Nick Griest a shot for the win and the three cars went across the line together with Welch taking the win. Nick Griest was awarded second and Matt Tripp was put in third place for a rough riding incident on the 14th lap. Bobby Edwards finished fourth with Jeremie Hale Sr., finishing fifth.
Rick Frisco jumped to the point from his front row starting position to take the lead at the drop of the green in the Road Bandit feature. Sticking to the high side of the speedway, Frisco gave up the bottom of the track and Paul Lockwood took advantage of that to take the lead on the fifth lap. Lockwood went on to take the win with Frisco finishing in second. Jessy Velez crossed the line third with brother Tommy Velez fourth and Matt Lipka fifth.
Tammy Welch took her second Pussycat feature win of the season over Cindi Frisco and Ashley Jones.
