CURT MICHAEL LEADS RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES POINT CHASE, PENN CAN NEXT
STOP FOR URC
Curt Michael of Ocean View, DE will lead his fellow URC competitors to
Susquehanna, PA this Friday night when the Rislone URC Sprint Series
invades the Penn Can Speedway. This always fast three-eighth mile clay
speedway is always an exciting stop for the URC sprint cars. URC made
the trip to Penn Can in June but the show was cancelled due to rain.
Now after a long wait, URC will return to the Can. A series of
qualifying events will lead up to the twenty-five lap feature event that
will pay $2,000 to the winner. Along with valuable points being
awarded for the season long point chase, the Penn Can event will also be
a point race towards the Valley Forge INC Pennsylvania Sprint Series.
URC was at Penn Can in 2006 when a twin 20's format was presented with
Scott Pursell and Mares Stellfox taking the victories. For Stellfox,
she became the first female feature winner in the history of the Penn
Can Speedway.
Michael has a solid hold on the URC point chase and should be in the
thick of the battle along with "red hot" Becca Anderson, driver of the
Bar's Leaks sprint car. Dave Ely of West Lawn, PA and JJ Grasso of
Pedricktown, NJ are URC's only three time feature winners this season.
Both Ely and Grasso have lots of talent on the short tracks with Grasso
sweeping all three wins this years at the New Egypt Speedway. Ely, won
a heart-stopper at Grandview Speedway just two weeks ago, taking the win
off the fourth turn in the run to the checker flag.
Along with the URC Sprints, the Penn Can modifieds will be on the card
along with the sportsman, super stocks, pure stocks and four cylinders.
Gates will open at 5:15 PM with race time set for 7:15 PM.
