Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series Returns to Canandaigua Speedway; Ferris Mowers Twin 50s On-Tap

This Saturday, August 9 Ferris Mowers presents the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series at Canandaigua Speedway. The Twin 50-lap affair marks the 14th event of the season for the Advance Auto Parts Tour. The mighty DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, DIRTcar Street Stocks, and PureStox will take the green at 7pm.
Pit windows will open at 4pm, with grandstand admission beginning at 5pm. Big-Block Modified time trials will start at 6:30pm with the first qualifying heat rolling out at 7pm.
Tickets for this special event will be made available at the gate. Adult general admission is set at $20, $18 for Seniors (Age 65+), $5 for children (Ages 10-14), and those under the age of 9 are FREE.
Last Saturday night Super Matt Sheppard visited victory lane at the Land of Legends for the first time in 2008. Sheppard made a late race pass on Vinnie Vitale for the victory, pulling himself back into Championship contention with Steve Paine and Gary Tomkins. Vitale, Todd Burley, Paine, and Tomkins completed the top five.
Last seasons August series race at the Land of Legends saw Brett Hearn pick up the feature win in Twin #1 with Tim Fuller, Vic Coffey, Frank Cozze, and Alan Johnson finishing out the top five runners. Unfortunately, the second 50-lap main event was rained out.
The DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds will join the stars and cars of the Advance Auto Parts series and run a 25-lap main event Saturday, while the Street Stocks will speed around the ½ miler for 20-circuits, with the PureStox enjoying a 12-lap feature go.
Eric Giguere, Bubba Burnell, and Marc Minutolo joined Sheppard in victory lane last Saturday night on Star Headlight Night at the Races. Kevin Ridley continues to lead the Sportsman standings, while Mike Welch has the advantage in the Street Stocks with Bryan Faulkner well in front in the PureStox.
