The Canadian Cancer Society night this Friday at Edelweiss Speedway
Cantley, PQ Sunday, August 10, 2008 Martin Belanger After a great success with the Heart and Stroke Foundation Fundraiser on July 4th. The Canadian Cancer Society will now be in the spotlight this Friday, August 15 at Edelweiss Speedway with a great night of action with the Empire Super Sprints and the 1st edition of the Carole Legault 50 part of the Mohawk Race Parts and Accessories Pro-Stock Series.
Pro-Stock driver, Denis Gauvreau also lost his wife in 2005, Carole Legault who had a long battle against the cancer. On Friday August 15, the Quebec Cancer Foundation will be on the spotlight. The 50-lap feature race for Pro-Stock will have the name of ``Carole Legault 50`` in her honour.
Gauvreau Top-Soil owned by Denis and his brother Eric also decided to offer an extra 100$ to every Pro-Stock driver that will take part in that feature event. They want to have a great car-count for that race.
A fundraiser will occur during the evening. The money will be collected in many ways, with the help of JGV Design who will provide stickers in the shape of ribbons for cancer; the fans will also be able to buy stickers and put them on the car they think will be the feature winner.
Everyone that will choose the winner will get a coupon good for a free hot-dog and a soft drink for another race program. The race car that will sell the most will receive a gift certificate of $150 from Vieux-Duluth.
In addition, 1 dollar of each entry on the fundraiser night will go to the foundation. The Speedway is committed to equal each entry for the two events. It will be a total of 2$ for each fan that will go to the foundation.
A lot of action will happen on the track with the Empire Super Sprints in town. The best drivers of that series will be in the pits as Les Steve Poirier, Alain Bergeron, Mikael Parent, Justin Barger, Brian McDonald, Jessica Zemken and company will give a great show.
Along with the ESS, the Pro-Stock will also draw some attention with a 50-lap feature event counting for the Mohawk Race Parts and Accessories. The best drivers from Quebec, Ontario and United-States will take part of that race. We expect nearly 20 cars for this race.
The modifieds will have a night off but the Semi-Pro, 4 cylinders and Mod-Lite will see some action as it will be a regular night for them.
We suggest people to arrive early because the Empire Super Sprints always attracts the biggest crowds of the year. Also come and support a great cause in the Canadian Cancer Society.
