Santa Maria, CA 8-13-08...*USAC/CRA 410 Sprint Cars make their final 2008 appearance on the 1/3-mile oval at Santa Maria Speedway Saturday night. NMRA TQ Midgets and Mini Stocks will be in action as well.
*Temecula's Mike Spencer has moved into the USAC/CRA Sprint Car points lead since their last race here June 14. New SMS one-lap record holder Blake Miller, of Yorba Linda, is 63 points out of the lead in second, and Santa Maria's Danny Sheridan is having a good points run in third, 92 markers behind Spencer. Fourth and fifth belong to Garrett hansen (-97), of Manhattan Beach, and Cory Kruseman (-184) of Ventura.
*NMRA TQ Midgets are led by Chuck West, of Clovis, who has won the last two feature events at Santa Maria Speedway. West leads Newbury Park's Scott Dobson by 65 and Camarillo's Bruce Hiroshima by 93. Fourth place Kenny Wiley, of Sunland, is 103 points out of the lead and fifth place West Evans, of Moorpark, trails the leader by 127 markers.
*The Mini Stocks continue to have a two-way battle between Justin Crockett, of Arroyo Grande, and Justin Marsh of Nipomo. Crockett continues to lead as he looks for his second consecutive Mini Stock championship but Marsh is only 10 points off the pace. The gap from the leader back to third place Daylan Coffey, of Santa Maria, is an even 100 points. Lompoc's Mike Weigel is fourth, 110 points in arrears and fifth is a three way tie between Jeff Biggs, of Lompoc; Ben Caswell, of Santa Barbara; and Jeremy Heroux of Nipomo. Their deficit is 116 points.
* Saturday's spectator gates will open at 3:00 p.m., with racing at 6:00 p.m. Ticket prices will be $20.00 for adults, $16.00 for seniors (65+), $5.00 for children six to twelve, with children five and under admitted free. Credit cards are not accepted.
