FULTON CHEVROLET SPORTSMAN CHALLENGE HIGHLIGHTS SEPTEMBER RACES AT ORANGE COUNTY FAIR SPEEDWAY
MIDDLETOWN, NY (August 15)
..A special two-race Sportsman Challenge highlights stock car racing at Orange County Fair Speedway during September. On Saturday, September 13 and again on Wednesday, September 24, Sportsman division racers will be in action as the historic Middletown track continues to celebrate its 90th year of auto racing.
Points will be tallied based on finishing positions in the two-race challenge features, with the top point-getter winning---in addition to the purse money---a new $3,200 crate engine courtesy of Fulton Chevrolet.
Were moving the Sportsman class towards crate motors, said George Johnson, track operations director. And the Sportsman Challenge gives the teams some added incentive. Were really appreciative of the folks at Fulton Chevrolet for providing a new crate engine for our bonus award.
On both dates, the Sportsman will be sharing billing with traveling sprint car series. On September 13, its the 360 sprinters of the United Sprint Car Company (URC). Vintage Modifieds will also be part of this fast-paced evening.
Then on Wednesday, September 24, the mighty 410 sprint cars of the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws roll into town for the ir annual appearance on the lightning-fast Hard Clay. This is a makeup date for the May 18 race meet that fell to inclement wea the r. Phase two of the Sportsman Challenge replaces the 358 Modifieds that had been on the original schedule.
