Hassay Garners Career First, Holtgraver Captures First At Sharon, Griffin, Scoville, Dellinger, Sodeman Jr. Repeat

Hartford, OH August 16, 2008 It was "Full Moon" Fever at Sharon Speedway on Saturday, August 16th as the rather cool August evening produced lots of thrills and spills on the track that saw several new faces visit the Hovis Auto and Truck Supply Victory Lane. Cortland, OH driver Jeff Hassay captured his first ever Tom's Sewer and Drain Service E-Mod feature event, while Danny Holtgraver celebrated his first Sharon Speedway victory in Warren Harley-Davidson 410 Sprint competition. Jason Scoville scored in the regularly scheduled Limited Sprint main event and Alan Dellinger won his eighth Tight-Seal Glass Block Pure Stock feature.

Jack Sodeman Jr., scored his second feature win of the year as he was victorious in the Warren Harley-Davidson 410 Sprint Feature that was rescheduled from August 9th and Guy Griffin won the rescheduled Limited Sprint main event.

The initial start of the Warren Harley-Davidson 410 Sprint Feature that was postponed from August 9th saw Jimmy Hawley get together with Shawn Minor. Following the contact Hawley flipped the Rudzik Excavating sprinter. When the event was restarted the field only got to turn one before the red flag would wave again. This time Rob Eyler got together with Minor. Eyler, Minor and Keith Taylor all flipped in the first corner. None of the drivers in any of these two incidents were injured. The third restart was the charm as Roger Campbell would lead the field for the first two laps before he slowed and Dan Shetler inherited the lead.
Shetler led the next two circuits before Jack Sodeman Jr. would put the Economy Tooling sponsored sprinter into the top spot. Sodeman built up a commanding lead over second place runner Dan Shetler until another red flag waved on lap 22 for teenager Cale Conley who flipped violently in turn two. Conley was uninjured but he was done for the evening. Sodeman Jr. would lead the final three circuits to capture his second Sharon Speedway victory of the season. Dan Shetler held on for the runner-up spot which enabled him to overtake Divisional Points Leader Bob Felmlee, who is currently sidelined following an injury at the Lernerville Speedway. Mike Kekich, Scott Bonnell and second-generation driver Scott Jones Jr. completed the top five.

The August 9th Limited Sprint main event found A.J. Albrecht and Jason Scoville leading the field to Mike Hanshaw's green flag. Scoville led the event wire to wire to capture his second victory of the year. Teenager A.J. Albrecht had a career best finish as he captured second over Andy Paden, Guy Griffin and Jim Morris III.

The regularly scheduled Warren Harley-Davidson 410 Sprint Car feature event saw Australian Steven Lines and Danny Holtgraver bring the field to the start-finish line. Holtgraver, in just his third night back in action after an earlier season neck injury at the Lernerville Speedway, jumped into the lead and was able to hold off the challenges of Lines. A red flag for Kyle Moffit's flip closed up the field on lap 12. When the green flag was again unfurled Holtgraver continued to lead the determined Australian driver. Despite Lines' attempts to close the gap a determined Holtgraver held on to capture his career first Sharon Speedway victory. First time visitor Lines claimed the runner-up spot with Scott Bonnell, Jody Keegan and Jack Sodeman Jr. rounding out the top five.

Bill Jones Jr., C.W. Harshman and Jody Keegan were victorious in the Sprint heat events.

Youngsters A.J. Albrecht and Jonathan Frederick paced the field as the Limited Sprint Division took the green. Albrecht led the first two laps before the caution flag waved for current Divisional Points Leader Brandon Spithaler. Spithaler was unable to refire and retired to the pit area. The final 17 laps would go nonstop with Albrecht in command until he was passed by Guy Griffin on lap 13. Griffin led the remainder of the 20-lap feature event to bring home his fourth feature win of the year. Andy Paden, Jason Scoville, Pete Miller III and Jonathan Frederick rounded out the top five. Griffin's win and Spithaler's misfortune propelled Griffin back into the points lead.

Griffin and Paden captured the Limited Sprint heat events.

Ron Jaeger and Jeff Hassay paced the Tom's Sewer and Drain Service E-Mods to the green for their 15-lap feature event. Hassay immediately took command and would weather several cautions as he went on to capture a career first feature victory. Hassay led laps one through seven before Jaeger took the lead on lap eight. A restart on lap nine found Jaeger spinning in turn two and apparently second place runner Alan Dellinger felt he had helped Jaeger around as he place himself at the tail of the field on the ensuing restart. Hassay inherited the lead and would weather two more cautions before celebrating his career first victory. Wilmot, OH driver Dennis Benjamin finished second followed by Dellinger, Jim Dellinger and Paul Phillips

Benjamin and Alan Dellinger won the E-Mod preliminary events.

"Awesome" Alan Dellinger continues to dominate the Tight-Seal Glass Block Pure Stock Division as he came from the ninth starting spot to bring home his eighth feature win in the highly competitive division. Second place starter Tim Burns would lead the first four laps of the event before pole sitter Bill Hanna would move into the lead. Hanna would relinquish the lead to Dellinger just one lap later and the Hermitage, PA driver would lead the remainder of the 15-lap event. Burns would battle Hanna to claim the second spot with Mike Aley and Allan Hudzik rounding out the top five.

Stan Womer and Dellinger brought home the Pure Stock heat events.

A special "Thank You" goes out to Mark Thomas Ford of Cortland and the Twin State Auto Racing Fan Club who presented trophies and plaques to each of the feature winners.
