Kutztown Champions Declared, Awards Banquet Set For Dec. 13 KUTZTOWN, PA - Rain decided the final 2008 track champion at The Fairgrounds at Kutztown Speedway.
When persistent showers forced the cancellation of Thursday's second night of the annual Kutztown Fair Races, it handed the Slingshot championship to Nate Christman of Oley, Pa.
On Wednesday night, Tom Kohler of Leesport, Pa., drove the Gary Spotts-owned No. 5 to a top-10 finish after heat-race mechanical troubles to earn the 600cc Micro-Sprint crown. Ross Perchak of Hazleton, Pa., clinched the 270cc Micro-Sprint championship with a top-five effort.
Kohler was a two-time winner, Perchak visited Victory Lane once and Christman took his title without the aid of a checkered flag.
Thursday night's rained-out event will not be made up, marking the official end of the '08 Kutztown season.
Attention now turns to the Awards Banquet to be held Sat., Dec. 13 at the Kutztown Fire Hall. For tickets and information, contact the speedway by phone at: (610)-683-8234 or via e-mail: Racektown@aol.com.
