Nick Guererri, Eric Chapman, and Andy Fisk all take Victorys on Parts Plus Night at Canandaigua Speedway; Jeff Chesebro takes BRP Late Model Main Event

Weedsport, NY – August 16, 2008 – By Tom Ames, Canandaigua Speedway PR

Nick Guererri, took his no. 25g DIRTcar Sportsman Modified to victory lane for the second time in 2008. He started in 8th and worked his way up to second by lap 3, but did not get the lead until lap fifteen passing Marcus Dinkins out of turn two, to get the checkers in the Hoosier Tire 25.

"This one was a little more challenging than the first win, the car isn’t running so good, I tried to run the bottom and follow some guys around, but I new couldn’t get by that way, so I drove it in as deep as I could up top and it worked out."

Todd Henderson finished second after starting deep in the field at 14th, and early race leader Marcus Dinkins ended up 3rd. Anthony Rizzardo and Kevin Ridley were 4th and 5th respectively. Post race inspection is still pending, as the distributor of the no. 25g was taken at the end of the night for further review.

CJ Guererri took off with the lead at the drop of the green, from his 2nd place starting position, and took the checkers in the Summitt Auto 12 lap feature in the PureStox’s. Eric Chapman took home second place with Corey Hunt taking third with a last lap move past the car of Roger Bush who finished 4th. Marc Minutolo who was running second to Guererri, stumbled at the end and fell back to finish fifth.

At the conclusion of the feature event the no. CJ1 of Guererri failed post race inspection. As a result all drivers were moved up one position.

In the Street Stock BIG Six Series, Adam Depuy took his second victory in the series. Chris Fisher who was leading most of the race went up in smoke on lap 17 and it was enough for Depuy to take advantage and hold on for the win. Andy Fisk, and Bubba Burnell took the final two podium spots. Second place starter Nick Rizzo finished fourth while Mike Vaughn took home fifth coming from the back of the pack.

Depuy's no. 99 would late fail post race inspection, moving everyone else in the feature order up one position.

The BRP/Can Am Late models were on tap and in that feature event, Jeff Chesebro took the victory, the trophy and the $1500 top prize. Paul Grigsby finished third, while rookie contender Jason Boyle took home third place. Scooter Pangrazio who won the BRP event earlier in the year, finished 4th and Beamer Guzzardi took home fifth place.

In the Hoosier Tire 25 for the DIRTcar Sportsman event, the feature started slowly with two cautions in just one lap. At the wave of the green flag, Kyle LaVare took off with the lead with Marcus Dinkins close behind. The first caution was for Tim Currier who tapped the outside wall in turn two and came to a stop. The restart would draw another caution, as the officials did not see a good start, so they would try it again.

The third yellow would fly when Phil LaVare would get into the back bumper of Rob Bussey going down the backstretch and turn them both around, sending Bussey to the pits while LaVare would catch the tail of the field. As the field was on the pace lap to go green the no.11 of Ben Wheeler slowed in turn two, giving some more time for Bussey to tend to his car, he would make it back out for the green.

On the restart Marcus Dinkins gets by LaVare for the lead while Nick Guererri followed in third. When the leaders got into turn three, the rest of the field made turn two into a parking lot. It was a huge pile up, It was Greg Cool who got a flat tire and getting turned around causing most of the field to bunch up. The cars of Eric Giguere, Joe Cook Jr., Ben Wheeler, Phil LaVare, Rob Bussey, AJ Lewis, Todd Henderson, Tim Currier, Loren Lincoln, Daryl Hilkert, and Dan Wiesner were all involved. Loren Lincoln ended up on his roof, and cradled back to the pits. All drivers were ok in the accident. Hilkert, and Wiesner made it back on the track, along with Henderson who made it out after the green, still on the lead lap.

On lap three restart, Dinkins took the lead with Nick Guererri right on his bumper. Kevin Ridley who started in 11th charged up to third at the line while making it three wide with Anthony Rizzardo and Fran Hilton coming out of turn four. Lap eleven drew another caution for Steve Gray with a left rear flat tire. The running order would stay the same. On lap fifteen Nick Guererri put a heck of a move on the leader Dinkins coming off of turn two to take the lead. Todd Henderson snuck by Marcus Dinkins on lap twenty-three for second while Anthony Rizzardo would get by Kevin Ridley for fourth position. Nick Guererri crossed the line first taking his second feature win of the season. Todd Henderson and Marcus Dinkens took second and third respectively. Anthony Rizzardo and Kevin Ridley rounded out the top five. DIRTcar Tech Officials deemed the distributor was illegal on Guererri’s car, and until checked, the results will be unofficial.

In the Parts Plus BIG Six 20 for the DIRTCar Street Stocks, Leroy Lewis started on the pole with Nick Rizzo on the outside pole. They both got together in turns one and two with Rizzo going to the pits and Lewis coming to a stop on the backstretch. The yellow would fly with only one lap complete. This was the third event in the BIG Six Series, they were using the invert formula for the lineup for the feature. The pills in the bag were 4,5,6,7 and 8. The pill that was drawn was 7. That inverted the field for the 7 starting spots, putting Leroy Lewis on the pole. The restart would get underway and the top five cars were bumper to bumper coming out of turn four, for some close racing action. Chris Fisher jumped out into the lead with Adam Depuy pressuring him the whole time. Bubba Burnell and and Mike Welch were bunched up right behind them.

Fisher was doing the best he could to hold off Depuy while on lap five Andy Fisk moves past Burnell for 3rd place. On the restart the top five were so close you didn’t know who was going to come out of turn four the leader.

Fisher continued to hold off all charges from Depuy while Fisk passed Burnell for 3rd on lap 5. Fisk was getting the bumper up to Depuys, but could not muster off a move to get by for second. Current Point leader Mike Welch ended up leaving the track on lap 9. The no. 6x car of Pat Hobbs was running a solid 7th when his car smoked and was seen leaking fluids ruining his night. By lap 16 a few lap cars looked as if they were going to slow Fisher down, Depuy could not get by still. The following circuit, Fisher’s car would go up in smoke and Depuy took over the lead and never looked back going into victory lane. Post race tech inspection found that Depuy’s carburetor was illegal, taking the win away from him and moving everyone else up a spot.
