RACING RESUMES…..
Brighton Speedway staff, drivers and fans were the happiest people on the planet when Mother Nature kept the skies clear and the action packed schedule ran from start to finish on August 16th. As the racing season resumed everyone was itching to head to Victory Lane, and they were pleased to do it as part of the Behan Construction $5.00 Price Slasher Saturday.
No one was more pleased than Brandon Gregory, who waved the checker twice in one night. After pulling last year’s 01 Pro Stock out of the garage, expecting that the Canadian Modifieds were going to have the night off, he drove from 15th position to first in the 35 lap 2nd race of the Duel in the Dirt presented by Lawns We Do and DL Services . His second victory lap was taken following success in the 10 lap Canadian Modified Dash For Cash event, which was added following all of the recent rainouts. Gregory and his fans celebrated in Victory Lane and were glad to have the resources to be able to run both classes after the lack of race opportunities this season.
Other trips to Victory Lane were taken by Jason McCrory #49 of Brighton in the other Canadian Modifeid Dash, Stacey Ferguson #1 of Picton, in the McDougall Insurance Bill’s Johns Comp 4 Triple Crown event, Ed LeBlanc #63 of Belleville, in the Quinte Towing Stingers and Chris Turner #10 of Trenton, in the Picture This Pure Stock race.
The next race event, scheduled for 7:00pm on August 23, 2008, is the Salute to Canadian Armed Forces, presented by Betty Bread. All CFB Trenton Staff are admitted free with their Military I.D. The Ontario Extreme Lawn Tractor Association, sponsored by Lawns We Do will be hitting the front straight away at 6:30pm, followed by a complete race program including the Canadian Modified RONA and Northumberland Tire Pure Stock Triple Crown races. Following the races drivers and fans are invited to head out on the track and participate in the Ferguson Racing Chase for the Cure walk in support of Cancer Research.
