AIRBORNE ANNOUNCES$10,000-TO-WIN ENDURO
ForImmediate Release AS-081308-1
Plattsburgh, NY – Airborne Speedway hasscheduled a $10,000-to-win, 200-lap Enduro for four-cylinder and six-cylindercars on Saturday, October 4, track promoter Mike Perrotte confirmed today.
The$10,000 first prize makes the Airborne event one of the highest-paying Endurosin the nation. The second-place contestant will earn $1,000.
“We are requiring that all entrants turnin their car, or what’s left of it, to the track at the end of the event,”Perrotte said. “That will limit the amount of money anyone will be willing toput into a car and it gives competitors a chance to drive a cheap junker to abig payday, which is the Enduro spirit we want to promote. Drivers will beallowed to leave with their safety equipment such as seats, harnesses and rollcages.”
Grandstand admission for the event willbe $2 per person. All proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Enduros are survival races that a seldom,if ever, utilize a caution flag. Red flags may be thrown for safety purposes orto clear an unusually large logjam of disabled cars. Trucks are noteligible. Only cars with stockwheelbase for make and model are eligible. Stock engines, transmissions, bodiesand frames and unmodified suspensions are required. Competitors must be atleast 16 years old. Entrants under 18 must supply a parental consent form.
“We anticipate well over 150 cars,”Perrotte said. “There is no entry fee required. Pit admission for the day willbe $10.00. There are several requirements for safety purposes, includingfunctioning brakes, full face helmets, seat belts and shoulder harnesses.”
