RYAN BOHLKE NABS FIRST CAREER RISLONE URC SPRINT FEATURE SATURDAY NIGHT
AT LINCOLN SPEEDWAY
Ryan Bohlke made short work of a big field of URC sprints cars, winning
the Rislone sprint car feature event Saturday night at the Lincoln
Speedway. Bohlke of Freedom, NJ has less then a handful of starts with
the United Racing Company sprints, but was not to be denied his first
ever win, leading the entire twenty-five distance. Although he had
control of the race from start to finish, Kyle Purks made several early
race challenge for the lead, then in the closing laps, Jason Clauss was
in the hunt for the win. Bohlke used the high groove to his advantage
then protected thee bottom groove for the final five laps in chase of
the checker flag. Bohlke, Driving the Guy Howie owned sprint car earned
$2,000 point in the event that is also part of the Valley Forge INC
Pennsylvania Sprint Series.
A strong field of thirty-six URC sprint cars turned out for the event
with heat race victories going to Justin Collett, Ryan Bohlke, Chuck
Palmucci and Kyle Purks as Chad Layton won the Don Ott sponsored "B"
Main.
In the twenty-five lap feature event, Bohlke jumped to an early lead
with Kyle Purks hot in the chase as Jason Clauss followed in third.
The top three remained unchanged then on lap eight the caution was
displayed for Joe Biasi and Adam Gordon who tangled in turn three.
On the restart, Bohlke, Purks and Class ran to hide from the rest of the
field as a battle formed between Curt Michael, Becca Anderson and the
Jersey Jet JJ Grasso. On lap fourteen, Chris Coyle spun in turn one,
displaying the caution for the final time of the night. When racing
resumed, Bohlke, Clauss and Purks continued their battle the on lap
fifteen, Curt Michael nosed into third, but several car lengths behind
Bohlke and Clauss.
With just five laps to go, Clauss put on a full press challenge for the
lead, forcing Bohlke to cover the bottom groove. At the drop of the
checker flag, Bohlke and Clauss were nose to tail with third place
finisher Curt Michael about six cars off the leaders. Kyle Purks and
Trevor Lewis made up the top five.
