Stewart Still Sizzling Under The Summer’s Sun

By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications

Even though the forecast has been far from perfect over the past few weeks, Todd Stewart continues to make ‘hey’ while the sun shines...as in ‘hey, look at him go’! The veteran DIRTcar 358 modified racer from Bath, Ontario scored a pair of 5th place finishes Saturday, August 9th and backed-it-up by depositing an exciting 3rd place run into the high banks of Brockville Ontario Speedway just a week later.

The summer months have been strong for Stewart, starting with his first 2008 win Saturday, July 5th. From there, the driver of the #72 Red Line Oil/Southeastern Telecommunications/Stewart Speed Supplies/B & G Trailer Sales/Latimer’s Equipment/ReMax Realty Concepts-Penny Blake/RW Electric/Anchor Concrete Products/Fort Glass/Interprovincial Insulation/Kwik Kopy/Dig n’ Dirt/Northwood 2 Constructions/OSSO Electric Supplies TEO Pro Car has been one of the hottest performers on the DIRTcar 358 modified circuit.

“Running well feels great,” said Stewart, as he climbed out of the car Saturday night at Brockville. “We haven’t set the world on fire with a winning streak or anything – but regularly finishing in the top 5 will certainly help where the points are concerned. It’s our first season running a TEO and we couldn’t be happier with the overall performance.”

With just a pair of points paying events remaining on Brockville’s 2008 schedule, Stewart appears to have a lock on a top 5 finish in the overall standings. That position could be even higher, if his current streak continues.

“The crew is pumped-up and I feel really confident heading into the big show (remainder of the Canadian Dirt Challenge and the Battle of the Border Super DIRTcar Series) Saturday, September 6th. It’ll be a lot of racing, but I think we’ll be prepared and ready for it,” he offered. “We’re working hard and showing some good results against some strong competition. That effort is starting to show where it counts.”
