Rough and Tumble Weekend Far Behind for Nick Mulheim and Crew.

Rough and Tumble Weekend Far Behind for Nick Mulheim and Crew.

This has been a very good year for the Mulheim Motorsports team. With several top-five and top-ten runs combined with a win the team has seen a lot of success. With just four races left in the Lakeville Speedway Championship and one race left for the Triple Crown the team is looking to continue this ride until the season ends.
Beginning Friday as they usually do at Lakeville Speedway the 38m was on the inside of row two wanting the ten points that come with a heat race win. Using the bottom of one and two and a lane higher in three and four Nick took second place three laps in looking to track down the leader. A few laps later that is just what he did taking the checkered flag for the prelim event.
For the feature a starting spot of fourth was in store for the Mulheim Motorsports entry and this being the second race of three for the Triple Crown a great finish was needed to try and double up on the title side of things at Lakeville. After the first lap Nick Mulheim was in third running with first and second when a caution came out around lap five. Just a few laps later Dean Jacobs was able to get by on the top side of the track handing the 38m fourth place in the running order. The rest of the race Nick was able to keep pace with third place but could never complete a pass for the position. With this finish Nick is now tied with Dean for the Triple Crown Championship that will finish up at the Dirt Blowout the first weekend in October.
Saturday evening the team made the drive down to Wayne County Speedway to do battle with the regulars there. After timing in seventh, missing the dash by two hundredths, Nick earned himself the pole of the first heat. Running the middle to top of the race track the entire way around good friend Jason Dolick was able to grab the lead at the start of the race and then Nick fell to third a lap later with a car that was a touch tight and battling with the sun after the team forgot to put the visor on. Nevertheless the 38m still finished up in third transferring to the feature.
Inside row five, a little farther back than Nick is used to beginning an A Main. At the start of the race Nick stayed to the bottom using a smoother portion of the track but a few laps in found that the car liked it a little rough in the middle of the surface. After falling to tenth the Mulheim Motorsports entry was trailing the 60 car when the wheels came off, literally, almost. With trouble in front of him Cory Crabtree checked up leaving Nick nowhere to go but into his right rear sending the car on the off ramp with several broken parts. Twelfth is where Nick was scored as finishing.
Mulheim Motorsports would like to thank Mulheim Hardwood Frames, Fisher Performance, CAMS, and Rankl and Ries Motorcars
