IRA SPRINTS ARE NOT AT LANGLADE COUNTY SPEEDWAY SUNDAY
Antigo, WI The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series is NOT competing this Sunday, August 24th at the Langlade County Speedway. The marquee in front of the fairgrounds venue incorrectly states that the IRA, which is the upper-midwest's premier sprint car series will be racing there on that date, however that is not the case. "We want to make it extremely clear that the IRA 410 Outlaw Sprints, the only sprint car series to have ever competed on the ultra-fast - half-mile in Antigo, is not currently scheduled to be in Antigo this year at all. I'd like to think using our name on the marquee is a simple mistake, but I really don't think it is," stated long time IRA President Steve Sinclair. "I guess they are putting some kind of race on Sunday, but it's not us. And I want that made very clear."
IRA has been successfully headlining the Summer Sizzler event at the facility since 2004, in fact drawing the largest crowds of the season to the facility from 2004-2006. "Last year's initially scheduled show in August fell to rain, then we came back on a cold night in September and broke every track record there was to break. A schedule conflict between Antigo Stock Car Inc and the Langlade County Fairboard caused our originally scheduled August 16th, 2008 date to be canceled, and unfortunately we couldn't find a suitable replacement date. ASCI recently wanted us for 8/24, but we're just not able too to oblige such a last minute request. Apparently they are having some sort of a race that day, but have incorrectly advertised us on their marquee. That's troublesome, as I don't want our many fan's in the region confused." added the 2-time National Sprint Car Promoter of the Year. "The fan's up in the Antigo area have been great to us, and we enjoy racing there, however after getting canceled because of the conflict, we just thought it best to start thinking about 2009," Sinclair stated.
The IRA Outlaw Sprint Series competes in over 30 events a year throughout the upper-midwestern states. Oklahoma's Wayne Johnson captured IRA's most recent Antigo visit in 2007. IRA is an ASA Affiliated Series.
