URC Eyes Two Race Weekend at the Grove and Delaware International. . . .
JASON JOHNSON ADDED TO URC ROSTER FOR WILLIAMS GROVE ON FRIDAY NIGHT
The Rislone URC Sprint Series will offer a two race weekend with their
first stop at the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night followed by a
return visit to the Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, DE on
Saturday night. Along with all the top talent of URC, look for Jason
Johnson of Eunice, LA to also be in the field. Johnson won the Tuesday
night Kasey Khane Foundation race at Williams Grove and earned a hefty
$56,000 for the victory and the richest first place payout in the
history of the Williams Grove Speedway.
Johnson knows the Grove like the back of his hand and should be a top
contender to be in the hunt for the $2,000 winners share of the 25 lap
Rislone URC Sprint feature event. Johnson started fourth in the
feature behind front row starters Tony Stewart and URC point leader Curt
Michael. Stewart was the early race leader before turning the top spot
over to Stevie Smith on lap fourteen. Two laps later, Johnson was the
pace setter. Fred Rahmer who started ninth, moved into second and did
begin to reel in Johnson but just ran short of time. Johnson was the
winner with Rahmer second. Curt Michael delivered URC's best finish of
seventh with Dave Ely tenth.
With Johnson in the URC line-up on Friday night at the Grove, it should
prove interesting to see if he can pull off a repeat win. This will be
a point race so URC's four time feature winner JJ "The Jersey Jet"
Grasso will be in the field. Grasso is fast and always exciting and
we'll see if he has anything to offer Johnson. Trevor Lewis set fast
time on Tuesday night and he'll be in the field on Friday night as well.
Lewis will also be looking to take the victory at the Grove. Ed Aikin,
a previous winner of the 360 National event at Williams Grove will be in
the hunt along with three time winner Dave Ely. Curt Michael, URC's
defending champion and current point leader will be in the field joined
by Scott Pursell, Jason Clauss, Chris Coyle, Becca Anderson and Mark
Bitner to name a few.
The URC sprints will then head to the Delaware International Speedway on
Saturday night for a complete racing program of qualifying heats, a "B"
Main and a twenty-five lap feature event. Race time is 7 PM.
