CHAD LAYTON SCORES CONVINCING URC VICTORY FRIDAY NIGHT AT WILLIAMS GROVE

MECHANICSBURG, PA . . . . .Chad Layton of Harrisburg, PA
scored his second career Rislone URC Sprint Series feature win Friday
night at the Williams Grove Speedway. Layton was quite convincing,
taking the lead following a lap seven restart from Justin Collett. Once
on top, Layton set a blistering pace and went on to pocket the $2,000
first place prize. Along with this event being a Rislone URC point
race, the Friday night outing was also part of the Valley Forge INC
Pennsylvania Sprint point series.

A healthy field of thirty-six URC sprint cars took part in the show with
heat race victories going to Randy West (driving the Fred Kennedy owner
#56m), Justin Collett, Ed Aikin and Dave Ely. Curt Michael was the
winner of the Don Ott sponsored "B" Main.

In the twenty-five lap Rislone URC sprint car feature, rookie driver
David Gravel set the pace for the first two lap. When entering turn
three on lap three, the right rear tire blew, sending the leader into
the wall. The "Jersey Jet" JJ Grasso tangled with Gravel and came to a
stop in turn three. The "Jet" restarted at the rear of the field, but
that is not the end of his story as the "Jet" rebounded to finish fifth.

At that point, Justin Collett became the new leader but had to
immediately deal with Chad Layton and Dave Ely who were close and in the
chase.

On lap seven, Joe Zuczek stopped in turn two and the second caution of
the race was displayed. On the restart, Layton took the lead going
into turn one but Collett had a strong run off of turn two and regained
the top spot. Wheel-to-wheel going into turn three and Layton dove to
the bottom and passed Collett once again. Suddenly, Dave Ely moved into
picture and challenged Collett for second.

Layton quickly pulled off a commanding lead to leave Collett and Ely
battling for second. Michael Carber and Randy West followed to make
up the top five.

At the halfway point of the race, the top five remained unchanged. By
lap seventeen, JJ Grasso (who went to the rear on lap three) was on a
charge and racing in sixth.

The final caution of the race came on lap twenty-two when Curt Michael
who was running seventh at the time, stopped on the homestretch when
the rear went out on the Bill Gallagher owned 5g.

Green flag racing resumed and Layton was continuing his Sunday drive on
a Friday night at Williams Grove. With two laps remaining, Layton
pulled off a twelve car length lead as he passed the start-finish line
with just two laps remaining. With the white flag waiving, Grasso
brought the fans to their feet as he continued his rim-riding drive and
slipped into fifth.

With the checker flag waiving, Chad Layton dashed under the wire to
score an impressive victory with Justin Collett second, Dave Ely third,
Michael Carber fourth and Grasso fifth.

While it was a great night of racing at Williams Grove, it was not such
a good night for two other URC drivers. Gary Gollub took a nasty flip
in turn three during the running of the "B" Main. Gollub did walk away
uninjured. Ed Aikin had a strong ride to win his heat and earn a front
row starting position in the feature event. Aikin took the green then
immediately pulled to the pits with engine trouble. Aikin is always a
strong runner and a favorite at the Williams Grove Speedway.
