Danny Smith takes Midwest All Star Win at Bloomington for Second Year in a Row.
New year, same winner. Danny Smith defended his 2007 Bloomington
O’Reilly Midwest All Star win by taking the checkered flag once again
August 22. Smith, in the Doug Williams Trucking 18, gained the lead on
about the 5^th circuit over Ryan Bunton in the Morton Collision 6r and
took command until the final flag flew.
Smith quickly found himself in lapped traffic as he throttled his
sprinter around the top, middle and bottom sides of the track making
every inch of the surface work in his favor. Lapped traffic allowed Jeff
Bland Jr in the Service Drywall 21s to real in the leader, but Smith was
just too fast for the competition.
Randy Hannagan, who set quick time on the night with a 9.904 brought
home his Penthouse/PocketShot.net 1x in 3^rd . The Mikes Towing 71m
peddled by Paul may would come home comfortably in 4^th . Pole-sitter
Blake Fitzpatrick finished in the 5^th spot in his Terre Haute First
Bank #10f.
In the night’s dash event, Ryan Bunton would take his 6^th event of the
year. Bunton would lead the green to checkered affair bringing in tow,
Smith, Miranda Throckmorton, Hannagan, May, and Brad Greer.
5 cars transfered from the B-Main. Ty Deckard would launch from his pole
position to take the lead on all circuits. Joining Deckard in the A-Main
would be Kody Kinser, Bobby Stines, Ethan Barrow, and Scott Williams.
Heat race #1 was won by JT Imperial. Imperial was followed by Hannagan
and Greer to complete the top 3. Heat race #2 went to Danny Smith with
Jerrod Hull and Tom Busch taking second and third. The final heat event
was won by Mikey Keumper. Keumper led Arin McIntosh and Jeff Bland Jr.
