Great win for Eric Gauvreau at Edelweiss Speedway

Cantley, PQ – Friday, August 22 2008 – Martin Bélanger – Edelweiss Speedway presented another full program with double features in the 4 cylinders and Semi-Pro. The Centre Sports Motorisé 4-wheeler series was also on the schedule. Pavage Cavalier and MC Malette Électrique presented this night.

Gage Morin took the early lead in the 30-lap modified feature race when Marc Therrien stopped in turn 1 on lap 1. Morin was still leader with Eric Gauvreau now in second spot. Gauvreau jumped to the lead in the backstretch. Gauvreau had built himself a comfortable lead when caution came out on lap 7. Gauvreau was still in front with Morin second and Laurent Ladouceur in third. A few cars came together on lap 10 in turn 4 and this brought the caution. A lot of action on the restart as Ladouceur took second, Mitch Jock quickly jumped in third and he was able to pass Ladouceur a few laps later as they got the halfway point of the feature. Brian McDonald took third on lap 18. Gauvreau had a great lead over Jock when Laurent Ladouceur brought the caution on lap 25. Gauvreau got a good start over Jock as Philippe Landry was now in third. Pat Cashman and Nicolas Vaillant got together with 2 laps to go. Gauvreau led the final laps to win his third feature of the season over Philippe Landry, Mitch Jock, Brian McDonald et Pierre Dagenais. Bobby Herrington and Gage Morin won the heat races.

In the Semi-Pro feature, Sébastien Bigras took the early lead when caution came after one lap down. Bigras stayed first when another accident slowed the field down on lap 2. Bigras took a great lead when the green lights came back on the field and took a great lead over the field when Richard Brady and Guy Regimbald came together on the 8th lap. Bigras was still the leader when he broke a wheel and Mark Trudeau was now the new leader. Trudeau led the way with Bruno Boivin in second but Nico Leblanc was able to pass him for second when caution came out on lap 11. Trudeau had company with Nico Leblanc and Leblanc passed him and Nico Leblanc won the feature in front of Bruno Boivin and Brian Rochon.

Dean Pronovost got a great start in the 15-lap Mod-Lite feature and led the feature for the first 12 laps when he lost control on the backstretch and Wyatt Mullin passed him to capture the win over Dean Pronovost and Dave Bell completed the podium.

A field of 20 cars took the lead in the Semi-Pro feature race of last week. Jocelyn Ducharme took the lead and led for 1 lap when an accident involving several cars occurs in the front stretch. On the restart, Richard Brady took the lead but Serge Lagacé passes him and takes the lead when the yellow comes out on the third lap. Lagacé must head to the pits for a flat tire and Brian Rochon is the new leader. Rochon has company in Nico Leblanc and Marc Lalonde. The leaders build themselves a comfortable lead. Even thought a few yellows came late in the feature, Rochon kept his spot and led the final laps to win his third feature of the season over Leblanc, Mark Trudeau, Bruno Boivin and Marc Lalonde completes the top 5.

In the first 4 cylinders feature race, which was a remake from last week, Martin Lagacé took the lead and led wire to wire to capture his first feature of the season in front of Jean-Marc Larose and Gabriel Mercier.

This week’s 4 cylinders will be presented next week because of the track’s curfew.

The pit was full last night with 16 modifieds, 24 semi-pro, 8 Mod-Lite, 7 4 cylinders and 36 4 wheelers! Next week will be the last week in the point`s chase in all category.
