THE REAL WINNER IS THE CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY
Brighton Speedway’s biggest winner on the night, August 23rd, was the Canadian Cancer Society who will receive a donation from the fans, staff and drivers following the annual Chase for the Cure Event. Organized by the Ferguson Racing Team, the highlight of the event was the challenge posed by staff to the Kid’s Club. If they could raise more than $2,000 then staff would push the #1 Comp 4 of Stacey Ferguson 1 lap around the 1/3 mile clay oval. Although final tabulations were not available at press time, the last lap made by a car was a pushed one by Officials, indicating that the kids had pulled their weight, so the staff who have to push theirs. “We are really pleased with the efforts put forth by everyone for this annual fund raiser. Cancer touches all of us and the Chase for the Cure is our way of making a difference in a fun and competitive way. Ferguson Racing would like to say thank you and as soon as we have a final tabulation we will let the community know, “ said organizer Stacey.
On the track, Feature Win trips to Victory Lane were taken by Jeff Sallans #07 in the Bainer’s Radiator Canadian Modified RONA Triple Crown Race, Mike Fletcher #41, in the Quinte Towing Stingers and Doug Snarr #5, in the Picture This Pure Stock Northumberland Tire Triple Crown. The surprise win on the night went to Terry Hough who took his first feature win ever, after three seasons of driving his FAF Racing Team #32 Bill’s Johns Comp 4. Both he and Snarr had double wins, taking their qualifier checker flags too.
The next race event, is the Labour Day Classic Weekend, August 29,30 and 31. The Holiday Inn Trenton $5.00 Friday Night gets started at 7:30pm and includes Gord ‘s Water VAN tactics, Bill’s Johns Comp 4, Spectator 1 on 1, tough truck competition, Flat Track Four Wheelers and hot laps for all classes.
On Saturday Lucas Oil, Mix 97, Ultramar and ROCK 107 present the Southern Ontario Sprints along with Brighton’s regular Canadian Modifieds, Stingers, Pro & Pure Stocks. Green Flag flies at 7:00pm.
Following a Pancake Breakfast, served by the Brighton Lion’s Club on Sunday from 8 to 11am , the Race Car Show and Shine Tailgate Party and Kid’s Club Carnival will run 1 to 3pm. Featuring Tractor Pulls, Pit Stop Competitions and more the afternoon will be a celebration of grass root motorsport racing. At 6:00pm the green flag will fly for the SOS Season Championship race. Also on the program is the Comp 4 30 lap $500 to win special and the 50 lap Pro Stock Duel in the Dirt $1,000 to win race. Comp 4 and Pure Stock Divisions will round out the program. Free Camping is available and weekend passes can be purchased in advance to avoid the lines.

2) Track Officials were true to their word as they pushed the #1 Comp 4 of current Champion Stacey Ferguson around the 1/3 mile clay oval at Brighton Speedway as part of the Chase for the Cure on Augst 23rd.
