Fultonville, NY - A host of familiar faces graced the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park's victory lane Saturday night with former track champion Randy Hotaling being one of them.
Scott McCoy and Tim Mayne would lead the modified field to the green flag with Mayne taking the early lead and Hotaling quickly following him 2 second from his 4th place starting spot. Hotaling would make a charge taking over the top spot while Paul Kinney and current modified points leader Jeff Brownell Jr would charge from deep in the field. As the laps wound down Brownell would find his way past Mayne and set sail after Hotaling. With 2 laps to go Brownell would make his move swinging to the top side of the speedway and taking the lead by a nose as the pair took the white flag. Hotaling would not be denied using the short way around the speedway to his advantage holding off Brownell by half a car length for the victory. Paul Kinney would be third followed by opening day winner Mike Ricci and defending track champion Craig Hanson.
Don Bellen and John Constantino would lead the Budget Sportsman field to the green flag with Bellen jumping out to the early lead. Bellens strong run would come to abrupt end in turn 2 as he would spin and bring out the caution. Starting 8th on the grid Jeremiah Munson was on the charge taking over the top spot and starting to pull away while Kory Wilder, Derrick McGrew started to battle. After starting deep in the field from winning the Consi, Jason Herrington was on the charge making his way past McGrew and Wilder into second and set sail after Munson. In the end he was not able to mount a challenge as Munson cruised to the victory. Herrington was second followed by McGrew, Wilder, and Vinnie Deciccio.
John Ketchum and Don Folts made up the front row for the street stock feature with Ketchum taking the early lead. Starting 5th Jason Samrow was on the move as he slipped past Ketchum into the top spot. The yellow flag would fly as Cliff Haslun and Cody Bleau made contact on the front stretch peeling the door of Bleau's #73 off. Both drivers would return to the race. On the restart Brian Cosselman would make his move charging after Samrov and taking the top spot with Dave Bayes in tow. Bayes would go to work on Cosselman using the top side of the speedway and would make his way past into the lead. Cosselman would put up a fight on the bottom of the speedway but in the end Bayes would hold on to take the victory. Cosselman would be second followed by Chuck McSpirit, Justin Knight, and Roger Newkirk Jr.
Tim Schram and Jay Ingersol would lead the Cruisers to the green flag with Schram taking the early lead. Shawn Morrison would use his 3rd place starting spot to follow Schram and take over the second spot while back in the field Heather King and Laurie Fallis would charge. A scary accident would end Schram's strong run as he would catch the inside birm in turn 2 sending his car over multiple times. Schram would get out unscathed but unhappy over the incident. Morrison would inherit the lead while Fallis and King would battle making there way 2 second at third. At the line it would be Morrison taking the victory followed by Fallis, King, Kerry Hollenbeck, and Pat McSpirit.
The enduro event was won by Kyle Hoffman. James Closson was second followed by Chuck Wainwright.
The racing activies were marred by a scary incident during the 3rd Cruiser heat race. The number 43 cruiser driven by Ryan Hover caught a piece of the birm in turn 2 sending his car over onto its roof. Fuel leaking out of the racer would ignite into a large fireball. Curtis Rouse, a track safety worker went into the burning car to get the driver out. Both suffered injuries and were transported by helicopter to the hospital. Rouse was released from the hospital by the end of the evenings activities while the extent of Hover's injuries were not available at press time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ryan and his entire family for a speedy recovery from the entire Glen Ridge Motorsports Park family.
