A lot action is expected this Friday at Edelweiss Speedway!
Cantley, PQ – Martin Bélanger – With the arrival of September, the nights are becoming much cooler. It will not be the case this Friday night at Edelweiss Speedway as the track champions will be crowned and everything is yet to be decided.
In the modifieds, the championship has never been this close with only 8 points separating the top 4 drivers. Laurent Ladouceur leads the way with 739 points, with his win last Friday, Eric Gauvreau has jumped to second with 734 points, Joel Doiron is third with 732 points and Pierre Dagenais comes in fourth with 731 points. Bobby Herrington completes the top 5 with 682 points, 49 less than Dagenais. Gage Morin lead the rookie title race with a slight priority of 14 points over Marc Therrien. The heat races will be as important than the feature with points given to the top 5.
Bruno Boivin and Nico Leblanc are alone in the race for the Semi-Pro championship with Boivin who has a 19 points lead over Leblanc (820 vs 801). Brian Rochon is third with 716 points, Marc Lalonde with 688 and Alexandre Gagnon with 662 points completes the top 5.
In the 4 cylinders category, Martin Bernard with 706 points has an advantage of 30 points over 2007 champion, Martin Lagacé. Jean-Marc Larose with 664 points is third ten points ahead of Gabriel Mercier. Alexandre Pilon is fifth with 542 points. These drivers will have 2 features this Friday to have the title decided.
The Pronovost family are at the top of the Mod-Lite 1000 category, Dean got the lead back last Friday with 752 points, Christian is second with only 2 points behind his father. Patrick completes the podium with 682. The battle will go on between the three of them. Dave Bell is already the champion is the Mod-Lite 600, Wyatt Mullin cannot reach him, Pat Bell and Carla Erickson completes the top 4.
Denis Gauvreau won the Gilles Masson Inc Pro-Stock series. He won 3 of the 4 races. Stéphane Lebrun finishes second followed by Joey Ladouceur who completes the podium.
The racing will be exciting in every race, as all the drivers will try to win. A complete race program is on the schedule, plus 2 features for the 4 cylinders and a wet track enduro at the end of the night. A great evening of racing that will be sponsored by Villa Toyota.
