Dog Hollow & Tri-City on tap for FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring
Series over busy Labor Day Weekend; $1,200 to-win Friday & $2,000 on
Sunday

The FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series is primed
for a busy three nights of racing over the upcoming Labor Day
Weekend. This Friday night, August 29 action returns to Dog Hollow
Speedway followed by a two-day show at Tri-City Speedway on Saturday
and Sunday, August 30-31.
Jim and Sharon Michny will play host to their second and final visit
by the Northeast Touring Series featuring a 25-lap featuring paying
$1,200 to-win, $150 to-start. Last year's event was won by Bobby
Powell and earlier this year defending Series champion, Alan
Dellinger, topped a 32-car field for his first ever win at the
track.
"We always enjoy going to Dog Hollow," stated Northeast Co-Director
Vicki Emig. "Dog Hollow has been a strong supporter of FASTRAK since
its inception last year. The class started with just a few cars last
year has really grown down there this year with 15 or so a night and
last week they had a record 20 for their regular show as standouts
Max Blair, Bobby Powell, and Mike Pegher, Jr. were all garnering
important FASTRAK weekly points."
Two weeks ago, Tri-City Speedway was added to the Northeast Touring
slate for the first time ever joining the track's prestigious Oil
Region Classic, which also features two days of World of Outlaw Late
Models. Saturday will feature warm-ups and eight-lap qualifying heat
races. Then on Sunday, the last chance B mains will be run that will
set the field for the 30-lap $2,000 to-win, $200 to-start event,
which is the richest show on the 2008 slate.
Race-1's Brad Hibbard, FASTRAK Northeast's certified engine
rebuilders and tech inspector, is offering the first non-qualifying
car on Sunday a certificate for a free shock dyno service and shock
evaluation up to 15 shocks, and both the first non-qualifying GM 602
car and the second GM 604 car will receive a set a valve springs.
The 12th non-qualifier will receive a certificate for $250 off of
rebuild of 602 or 604 to be used before February 2009.
"Tri-City has been a requested venue for a Touring Series event since
they announced they were joining the weekly FASTRAK fold," explained
Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone. "In our second season, Tri-City
has given FASTRAK a weekly Sunday home and this will be a great way
to end the 2008 season and showcase our competitive Touring Series in
front of a large audience. There was some great, close competition
all season long at Tri-City and with this big payoff on the line and
many more cars, it should prove to be a great show."
It took until this past Sunday at Eriez Speedway with a pass for the
lead with four laps to go to generate the Touring Series' first
repeat winner in Max Blair. Blair, who also leads the $10,000
National Weekly Series, is also the current Touring Series point
leader, which will pay $5,000 to the champion. The Centerville, Pa.
18-year-old opened the 2008 Touring Series with a victory on May 24
at McKean County Raceway and backed that up Sunday with his second
$1,200 victory after getting by Tom Snyder, Jr. on lap 21. The
following drivers have also been victorious: Frank Guidace (Mercer),
Alan Dellinger (Dog Hollow), John Lacki (Raceway 7), Kyle Drum
(McKean), Bobby Powell (Expo), and Mike Pegher, Jr. (Raceway 7).
Blair has a 34-point lead over Powell heading into Friday. Following
this weekend's events, Mercer Raceway Park will hold their second and
final event on Saturday, September 13 followed by the finale at
McKean County Raceway on Friday, September 26. Both events will pay
$1,200 to-win, $150 to-start.
