Pen Argyl, PA- CARQUEST Gasoline Alley Show Hosts Ed And Steve Pados Interview With The Legendary Stars At The Flemington Reunion Show The popular CARQUEST Gasoline Alley TV/Internet Show with it's show hosts Ed and Steve Pados took center stage on Sunday at the first Flemington Fair Race Car show held on the grounds of the Hunterdon County 4-H & Agricultural Fair off of Route 179 in Ringoes, New Jersey. The former car owners turned Announcers conducted interviews with the many legendary car owners and drivers that helped make up the grand history of the Flemington Fair Speedway that shut down permanently in 2000. The interviews began with a rollicking start as recent Hall of Fame inductee Carl "Fuzzy" Van Horn spoke of his many years in racing and the "Belvedere Bandit" was followed by the legendary "Old Master" Frankie Schneider, a hometown racer who excelled in all phases of auto racing including a successful stint in NASCAR. Those two interviews set the tone for what will become a memorable day in the lives of those who took part in the past racing at Flemington whether it be through the eyes of an a driver, owner, track official or fan. Bob Pickell, Ken Brenn Sr and Jr, Dick Cozze, Ray Neary, Ed O'Neal, Dick and Rick Wean, Jeff Polenz, Joe Poliacik, Walt Morrsion, Wyatt Jacobus, Jim Horton Sr, Bobby Banghart and others interviewed to the large crowd of fans who listened intently to the questions asked to their heroes. One of the biggest surprises came about through the interview with Stan "The Man" Ploski who indicated he would like to return to the seat of a Modified to resume his great driving career. When the large crowd on hand was asked if they would like to see Ploski back behind the wheel of a race car, a resounding yes and applause shook the tent for a couple of minutes. It is hoped a deal can be put together to have Stan Ploski racing once again. The time passed by all too quickly and while many more drivers were waiting to interview the time limit set aside for the interviews drew to a close. Steve Pados, who has been announcing for the past eight years with his current tracks being both the Accord Speedway in New York State and the Hamlin Speedway in the Poconos of Pennsylvania, took a short pause to thank the legendary great announcer who mentored him when he was starting out in announcing, that being the late Bill Singer, who was the voice of the Flemington Speedway. The Pados Brothers were honored to take part in a show where so many great racing names gathered to pay tribute to the grand old dame, "The Purple Lady" the Flemington Speedway. While many of our hearts were taken from us when it finally closed for good, it was truly the conversion from dirt to pavement that left us with a bitterness many of us still feel today. A great group of race cars were assembled for the show on the part of Wyatt Jacobus and his son and the future of the show is solid with the Fair Officials standing totally behind the first year efforts. The new Brenn 24 Coupe was displayed for the first time at the show and fabricator/builder Bill Lowden and his team did an excellent job at re-creating the legendary machine. Much time and effort went into the building of the car and the car is truly a masterpiece for the dirt racing fans to enjoy. The Pados Brothers have been invited to the Hinchliffe Stadium show this coming Sunday on August 31st as the City of Paterson, New Jersey hopes to re-create the interest in the stadium and the grand racing that once took place there. The speedway portion closed in 1952 but it is hoped the renewed interest through the non-profit group, the Friends of Hinchliffe Stadium, will find racing returning to the legendary facility. If the time schedule can be worked out, the Pados Brothers will be conducting interviews with the many drivers who are expected in for the occasion.
