2008 NRA Invaders Champion-JR Stewart.
With the unfortunate cancellation of Friday’s event at Limaland Motorsports Park JR Stewart is now the NRA Champion earning the Bellefontaine native his first title after over ten years of racing sprint cars. Darren Long who finished second gave his all making JR race harder than he has ever had to working all year to catch him.
Saturday at Waynesfield the 6s started his heat in sixth needing just two spots to earn entry into the nights A main event. Using every bit of the racetrack he was only able to make up one position sending the Hammons Motorsports entry into the B Main.
Fourth, that is where JR started the B and he didn’t stay there long. Immediately making a move into second on the outside he went on to chasing down the leader Jared Horstman; the 6s had found some speed, and a lot of it. After keeping tabs on the 17 JR made his move work taking the lead and then lapping several cars before ending the race three spots ahead of where he started.
Seventeenth isn’t exactly a front row start but as a team they took it with pride knowing who was behind the wheel of the potent number 6s. Right from the wave of the green flag a march was on that took him forward going through the field. A late race caution allowed JR to catch up with those who had a better time in traffic and with the Hammons Motorsports entry solidly in the top-ten a top-five was now easily within reach. Two more positions were gained in the closing laps handing him a sixth place finish for all of his hard work.
