Thorold, Ontario (August 27) The Konzelmann Estate Winery 100 lap Enduro could be accelerated by Niagara College – should one of the three Qualifier Winners comes home No. 1 Sunday September 7th at Merrittville Speedway.
Jason Coutu, (May 19th’s Zavitz Financial Strategies Winner), Tim McIntosh, (June 28th’s Boltworks Piller’s $1.00 Hot Dog Winner) and James Mercer (August 16th’s CMH Sales and Leasing Avondale Food Stores) are all be eligible for a $200 Bonus – should one come home # 1 in the 100.
“ Niagara College continues to be # 1 in student satisfaction,” boasts (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell, adding, “and we are thrilled they are accelerating our Enduros.”
Should none of the three drivers win the big event – the $200 will still be given away via a draw of starting positions.
“Preregistering now takes on a whole new meaning,” reveals Bicknell, “anyone that enters the 100 by September 1st – will be eligible for a chance at one of four $50 bonuses if it’s given away that way and drivers are reminded that their Roof Fins are now available from the Speedway Office.”
Enduro Competitors can register during business hours leading up to weekend and then right until the final checkered flag falls in the Brian’s Tire Repairs Labour FANtastic that signifies the final point events for all 5 Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions.
Sunday August 31st the Speedway Office will be open for registrations from 10 to 4 PM while the Hoosier Stocks travel across the 401 to take on the Brighton Speedway Pro Stocks in the first combined 50 lap event in the 2008 Duel on the Dirt.
Labor Day Monday – the Office will also be open from 10 to 4 PM for registrations at the $50 rate.
All drivers that register by September 1st will be eligible for the $50 Bonuses should they be available and after September 1st – the registration fee accelerates to $75.
Niagara College is in its unprecedented fourth consecutive number-one ranking in overall student satisfaction among all Ontario colleges.
Individuals considering re-training for a new career are encouraged to take a serious look at the many programs and opportunities available at Niagara College .

“There’s nothing like Enduro Racing,” relates (GM) Erica Bicknell, “ drivers with no experience … some that have run this type of event before and even some of our regular Saturday Night competitors … but in the end it’s more survival than experience that counts.”
Enduro Racing at Merrittville was quite prevalent many years ago and made a return in 2004. While regular L. St. Amand Enterprises 358 Modified competitor Dan Miller won that event, second year winner Dave Walters as well as Dan MacNeil (2006) and Bogusat have only Enduro experience.
Enduro Rules for the season ending 100 lap Konzelmann Estate Winery event are available from the Speedway office during the week or on line from www.merrittvillespeedway.com.
“It’s pretty basic,” adds Bicknell, “ it’s a street car with safety modifications – everything else is stock as you found it … an Enduro car is not a race car – it’s a car that races.”
Depending on what happens in any of the qualifiers, a competitor could use the same car in more than one event.
In the 100 lap event Sunday September 7th, the winner will receive $1,000 with $400, $300, $200 and $100 going to the balance of the top 5.
The 100 lap event is open to both Men and Women; however the Sunday Season Finale also features a Queens event for Ladies only.
The 100 lap Konzelmann Enduro accelerated by Niagara College caps off the
J & S Heating Weekend featuring the Rose Webber Memorial.
Top Mod Lite and Classic Drivers from across North America look forward to the fall event and challenging the Lucas Oil Open Wheel Lite Merrittville regulars.
The 2nd Annual Duel on the Dirt Challenge featuring Merrittville’s Hoosier Stocks against the Brighton Speedway Pro Stocks and an Open Street Stock will also highlight the Friday and Saturday Night portions – September 7th & 8th.
Friday Night recently took on a whole new look with July12th’s Lucas Oil 358 Modified Shoot Out rescheduled for that date which will also include the 2008 Nostalgia Night and the L. St. Amand Enterprises Wall of Fame Inductions once again hosted by the Merrittville Speedway Reunion Committee.
Saturday’s Event also features the Original Pizza Logs Sportsmen in a 50 lap Super DIRTcar Series Event that will bring in top drivers from across the circuit as well.
