Sarver, PA (August 27, 2008) The summer is here and gone folks! The kids are back in school, the Track Championships are decided, and now all that remains are a handful of special events showcasing each of the Fab Four divisions one last time before the 40th Anniversary Season of Lernerville Speedway comes to a close. This Friday Night the Commercial Truck & Trailer Sprints and the Friedman’s Freshmarkets UMP DIRTcar Super Late Models will do battle with the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints and the MACS Late Model Series in the Cleveland Brothers CAT Jim Shank Memorial presented by Potoka Trucking and Repair, while the Advance Auto Parts UMP DIRTcar Street Stocks tune up for their $2000-to-win Street Stock Pandemonium.
Unlike when the World of Outlaws roll into town, (when the locals aim to make the feature), the locals are aiming to take home the big money against the invading All Star Sprints and MACS Lates! The All Stars feature winner will take home $5000, while the MACS feature winner will take home $7000!
Local drivers Ed Lynch Jr., Rod George, Bob Felmlee and recent CTT Sprint feature winner Jimmy Hawley all have All Star Feature wins on their resume. Last week’s CTT Sprint feature winner Brian Ellenberger is a series regular and recently picked up his first career All Star win at Riverside International Speedway in Arkansas. The All Stars boast former Lernerville Track Champions Dale Blaney (1991 Track Champion) and Timmy Schaeffer (1993 Track Champion) on their roster, as well as Sprint Car legends Sammy Swindell and Lance DeWease.
Local drivers John Flinner, David Scott, Ron Davies, Dutch Davies and recently crowned Back-to-Back Track Champion Alex Ferree all have MACS feature wins on their resumes. Matt Lux (2007) and Keith Barbara (2003) have won MACS Rookie of the Year Titles, an honor being contested by Russell King and Coleby Frye this year. Meanwhile, Lynn Geisler (1999 and 2000) and Mike Blose (2001) have both won MACS Late Model Series Championships. So it’s very likely that a local driver could walk away with a $7,000 payday!
As mentioned above, the Advance Auto Parts UMP DIRTcar Street Stocks will also be in action this Friday for a cash-only, non-points race that will act as a final tune-up for the “Open Rule” Street Stock Pandemonium portion of the Advance Auto Parts Autumn-Motive Fest on Saturday September 13.
Reserved tickets are available online by clicking the “Buy Tickets Now!” banner on the website. Walk up tickets will also be available the day of the event. Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and $18 for students (11-17), kids 10 & under are always FREE! Reserved seats can be purchased for a $2 upgrade; however, reserved seats for children 10 & under are subject to the student price. Pit passes are $30 for DIRT/UMP members and $35 for numbers. Pit gates open at 4:00; grandstands open at 5:00. Hot laps will roll off at 6:45. Time trials for both the All Stars and MACS are scheduled for 7:15, with heat races immediately following. Don’t miss your last chance of 2008 to see 410 sprints and super late models on the same card in Western Pennsylvania. Come on out and enjoy the show!
