TWIN 20s AND FIREWORKS RESCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Heavy rain Friday morning with a forecast of
continued precipitation throughout the day forced officials at Williams
Grove Speedway to postpone the Twin 20s for sprint cars until Sunday
evening, August 31.
Gates will open at 5:00. Racing is scheduled to begin at 7:00.
A fireworks display will also be presented.
Heat races and the first feature will be lined up according to the
speedway's handicapping system, which is based on a driver's earnings
average.
The winner of the first feature will draw for inversion of the
second feature.
There will be no time trials.
Sunday night's program will honor the memory of Billy Kimmel, who
was fatally injured in a racing accident at Williams Grove a year ago.
Friday night's rain out was the 13th weather-related cancellation
of the season at the Grove and the first since July 4. Since that time
15 consecutive programs have been completed.
Racing will return to Williams Grove on September 5 when the 358
c.i. sprints will be featured along with the super sportsman cars. The
600 c.c. micros will also be on the card.
The Williams Grove sprint cars return on September 12 along with
the 358s.
