YOUNGSTERS AND VETERANS LOOKING FOR A WIN IN LUCRATIVE BPG RACING FREEDOM 76 MODIFIED CLASSIC BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 30, 2008 . . . There is a long list of young racing talents along with a long list of veteran racing talents that would love to be in victory lane when the BPG Racing Freedom 76 Modified Classic is finished on Saturday, September 13th at Grandview Speedway.
A win in the Freedom 76, $20,000 plus for the victory, can be a career starter for a young racer, said Ernie Saxton who has been the announcer and public relations person at Grandview Speedway for more than 40 years, For a veteran racer it can be something that rejuvenates a career. There are so many greats that have won this race in the past including Kenny Brightbill, Doug Hoffman, Bill Pauch (6 times), Fred Rahmer, Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Craig VonDohren and others.
More than 70 entries are expected for the BPG Racing Freedom 76. In the past the race has had as many as 40 starters. Young Mike Gular and Jason Hamilton, each feature winners at the Bechtelsville, PA clay oval, are considered strong possibilities to win. Along with Gular and Hamilton there is Doug Manmiller, currently second in the NASCAR Modified standings, veteran John Willman, Jon Kellner Sr. and Jr., recent feature winners Tom Umbenhauer and Ryan Godown, along with Danny Erb (his brother and father have won the event) and a long list of others who could find their way to victory lane.
Of course the young talents and veterans will have their hands full with the past winners and invaders that are expected to race on Saturday, September 13th with the green flag falling at 7 p.m.
A full series of qualifying events will be presented along with the Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20 (last chance to make the feature), the Alpine Building and Post Supply Cash Dash (paying $1,000 to win) with the topper being the BPG Racing Freedom 76. Each lap of the feature race has lap sponsorship money for the leader.
BPG Racing, sponsor of the night, has a large number of freebies for fans in the stands.
Fans are invited to come out early and enjoy the Beer City BPG Racing Freedom Fest starting at 1 p.m. Included in the family fun will be the Line-X Dunk Tank, First Class Tint/Diamond Glass tire changing contest, race car display, driver interviews and more.
Adult tickets for the BPG Racing Freedom 76 are priced at $25, children 6 through 11 pay $7 and under 6 are admitted FREE with a paying adult. Pit passes are $40. There is free parking on the grounds of the speedway.
There will be no reserving/roping off of space in the parking areas. Only service dogs are allowed in the grandstand areas. Fans are reminded that no glass containers are allowed on the speedway grounds.
Gates will open at 3 p.m. for advance ticket holders. Ticket windows will open at 3:30 p.m.
