RAIN FRIDAY AT PENN CAN SETS UP BIG SEPTEMBER RACES
Susquehanna, PA…The forecast for the day indicted that there might be a chance at racing Friday at Penn Can Speedway. When drizzle began in the early afternoon with heavier rain following, the decision was made to call off the scheduled night of racing. This now sets up a big three night stretch of racing in September.
This Friday September 5th will be the big Championship Night for all divisions. Championship points will be on the line for the last point night of the year. In the modified division point leader Jeff Rudalavage of Olyphant , PA holds a twenty six point lead over Dan Vauter of Forest City PA. The other divisions at the speedway are just as tight with Tracy Gregory of Factoryville leading the late models, Grant Hilfiger of Henryville, on top of the sportsman. Chris Strohl of Montrose is the super stock leader while Gary Kinne leads the four cylinders. The tightest battle is in the pure stocks where Jon Carpenter has a slim lead over Butch Green, Rich Green, and Steven Deinhardt.
The next two weeks of September will feature the King of the Can races for all of the divisions competing at the speedway. Extra distance races are schedule with extra money on the line as well. The first big night will be the annual “Saturday Night Special” September 13th. This will feature the late models in a $1000 to win thirty lap event. The super stocks, pure stocks and four cylinders will be on the card as well as the CRSA Sprints, and 600 modifieds. An early starting time of 6:00 pm will be used for this night. The originally scheduled racing Sunday September 14th has been rescheduled for Friday September 19th.
The Race of Champions Modified and Sportsman Tour races have been rescheduled for Friday September 19th. Joining the ROC modifieds and sportsman will be the DART Dirt pure stocks and the World Products Tour Empire series for the IMCA modifieds. Gates will open at 5:00 with racing at 7:15 .
