MODIFIED SPECIALS TO DOT THE REMAINDER OF THE 2008 FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY SEASON. STAR SERIES 50 THIS SATURDAY FOR MODIFIEDS.
KIRKWOOD, NY…The 2008 Five Mile Point Speedway racing season may be winding down in dates but it is certainly heating up in the Modified division as a number of special events dot the remainder of this season’s schedule. This Saturday night the Modified teams will do battle in a STAR Series 50 lap special paying $2,000 to win. Race time is 6 p.m.
This Saturday night will see the return of the STAR Series (Southern Tier Auto Racing) Modified drivers for this 50 lap special. Expect to see the return of Stewart Friesen, Pat Ward and Mitch Gibbs as they dialed their cars in this past Saturday night at the quarter mile. All of the top Penn Can Speedway stars will be on hand including current series point leader Craig Terrell, Joey Grammes, Jeff Rudalavage and Bobby Trapper. All of the Five Mile Point Speedway weekly campaigners will put on the sail panels and look to defend their home turf this Saturday night.
Next on the slate will be the traditional Southern Tier Open at Five Mile Point Speedway. The 50 lap event will serve as the STAR Series finale for 2008. This event will take place on Saturday October 11th. The RoC Dart Dirt Series Pure Stocks will also compete along with a special Lightning Cat Open.
The season will come to a conclusion with the huge National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend on October 24th and 25th. The Modifieds will compete in the traditional Southern Tier 100 on Saturday to determine the 2008 Race of Champions Dart Dirt Modified Champion. The 100 lapper will pay a cool $5,000 to the winner.
