It was the final night of points at the Brockville Ontario Speedway for all classes. Congratulations to all of the 2008 Champions. In 358 Modified division, Danny Obrien was crowned the champ for the third season in a row. In the sportsman class, the “Teenage Tornado” Chris Raabe is the 2008 Champion. The Street Stock Champion is Steven Billings and Mallorytown racer Josh Kane is the 4cylinder “Rookie” Champion.

The Vintage Modifieds were the first main event to roll off pit road. Jason Powers was the winner. Clay McNamee was second, followed by Denzil Billings Jr, Paul Billings and John Gibson

The 358 modifieds were next up, Bill Gill picked up the win. This was Bill’s first win of the season at the Brockville Ontario Speedway. Todd Stewart, who has been a roll the second half of the season, and may have arguably been the best car since his win in early July at the BOS finished second, championship winner Danny Obrien was third, Pierre Dagenais was fourth and Adam Moore rounded out the top five.

The 4cylinder “rookies” were next up, and they did not disappoint. Lansdowne racer Steve Barber led early until mechanical problems forced him to the pits for the evening. At the end of the 16 lap event, Gerry Oszczakiewicz was the winner, Gabriel Mercier was second, Chris Lloyd was third, champion Josh Kane was fourth, and Brandon Henderson was fifth.

The street stocks were next up next. Points leader Steve Billings had a comfortable lead over second place Dana Aikens going into the race, but that all could have changed when the Billings ducked into the pits at the midpoint of the race. Billings made it back on the track just as the race was about to resume, and worked his way back up into the top 10, and putting himself into position to win his first track championship. Dana Aikens did what he had to do, as he won the race, Dominic Gauvreau was second, Lansdowne racer Mark Grier came from the back after a lap one incident and finished third. Grier, who has only raced in 4 races this season has been one of the faster cars, and just ran out of laps before he could make a serious threat to challenge Aikens and Gauvreau for the lead.

The sportsman cars were the last event of the evening. Chris Raabe held a 10 point lead going into the night over second place Randy Gaudet. Raabe started the race deep in the field and wasted little time working his way to the front. Raabe picked up the win for the 6th time this season at Brockville and 18th overall, as the young superstar continues to dominate the sportsman division. Chris Herbison was second, Randy Gaudet was third, followed by Adam Turner and Matt Billings

In other racing action around the DIRT nation this weekend, on Friday night, the rain held off, and Chris Raabe was the winner and crowned the Champion of Thunder Alley Speed Park. Raabe passed rookie drive Luke Whitteker in the closing laps to take the win. Whitteker was second, Mark Webb was third, Brandon Sweet was fourth and Matt Hulsizer was fifth. Lansdowne drivers Steve Barber and Frank Mitchell Jr. made the trip to Thunder Alley to run in the 4cylinder thunder car division. Barber finished fourth, and Mitchell finished ninth.

At the Brewerton Speedway, Willy Decker was the race winner, Billy Decker finished second, and Kyle Lewis, Matt Sheppard and Jim Witco rounded out the top 5. Billy Decker and Alan Johnson entered the evening as championship contenders, and on lap 8, Alan Johnson’s championship hopes went up in smoke, as a blown motor sidelined Johnson for the rest of the evening. Billy Decker is the 2008 Brewerton Speedway Champ.

At the Can-Am Speedway, Kingston’s Pat Obrien was the race winner. Ryan Bartlett was second, Scott Webb was third, Frank Caprara was fourth and Jason Potter was fifth.
Caprara was crowned the 2008 Can-Am Speedway champion.

The points are done at the Brockville Ontario Speedway, but the season is not over. Coming up this week at the BOS, is the 75 lap 358 Modified Super Dirt Series event, as well as the remaining 96 laps of the Lucas Oil Series event, plus a full show of sportsman, street stocks, and 4cylinder “rookies”.
