WOODHULL CRATE SPORTSMAN/OPEN SPORTSMAN TO HEADLINE SEPT. 20 AND 27 EVENTS AT THE WOODHULL RACEWAY.

(Woodhull, NY) With the regular season well into the record books and the final points decided in all of Woodhull’s weekly divisions, post season play continues deep into the month of September at the historic high banked one-third of a mile clay oval.

On Saturday, September 20 and 27, Woodhull will play host to an array of late season Open Competition events as the regular rules will be altered to allow more traveling teams the opportunity to try and tame the high banks.

On both dates the Woodhull Crate Sportsman will headline the events; however any car running under the Open Sportsman umbrella will be allowed entry into the field. Leading up to the Sept. 20 and 27 shows the event’s have been labeled “Open Sportsman”, which for example will include cars from Penn Can, Thunder Mountain and 5 Mile Point. The Open Sportsman shows on Sept. 20 and 27 will by the same rules they did in 2007 for the Open Sportsman events.

“Last year we opened things up to get additional cars. We have a very healthy field of our own Crate Sportsman on a weekly basis. Add in Open Sportsman cars from surrounding tracks that want to attend and we’ll have plenty of good quality equipment and talented drivers. They will be the premier division on both weekends.” That according to Woodhull owner, Vern Wasson.

The Sept. 20 event will also include Open Street Stocks, Open Mini Stocks and Open Front Wheel Drive Divisions and the Mike Warren led Regional International Pro-Trucks will make their second and final stop at Woodhull in 2008. This highly popular traveling group may not be big in numbers, however the competition level more than makes up for it. Added sponsorship and an extra incentive program for a field of 15 or more trucks will entice any Pro-truck owner to find their way to the high banks of Woodhull.

On Sept. 27 the Open Street Stocks, Open Mini Stocks and Open Front Wheel Drive Classes will be joined by the 600cc New York Modified Midgets as the Timex Morgan led group will make their second appearance on the high banks of Woodhull in the past three seasons.

Gates for both dates open at 4:30 with racing at 6:30.
