Lernerville North-South 100 Modified Madness Countdown Just One Week Away!

Sarver, PA – September 5, 2008 – By Eric J. Westendorf, Lernerville Speedway PR Director (724)664-1075 · ewestendorf@dirtcar.com

After a two-year hiatus, the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series, the premier touring series of Big-Block Modifieds in the country, will return to Lernerville Speedway to kick off the first of day of the Advance Auto Parts Autumn-Motive Fest on Friday September 12. The Advance Series touring regulars will do battle with Lernerville Speedway/BRP Modified Tour guns in the $6000-to-win North-South 100 portion of Modified Madness.

The Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series contingent is headed by tour points leader Billy Decker, whom recently tied Brett Hearn’s single season record of 10 series wins. Decker has not only reached double figures on tour this season, including two of the past three series events (August 31 at Cayuga County Fair Speedway and September 1 at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park), he also captured the most recent tour stops at Lernerville back in 2006.

Dale Planck currently sits second in points and has won the second most features on tour with three trips to victory lane. Jimmy Phelps holds a slight lead over Big-Block icon and reigning overall Hoosier Tire Mr. DIRTcar Champion Brett Hearn. Meanwhile, Gary Tomkins (recent winner at Cornwall Motor Speedway on August 17) sits fifth in series points after a new car has boosted his late-season charge.

The Lernerville/BRP contingent is led by a trio of recently crowned track champions; Brian Swartzlander (Lernerville), Kevin Bolland (Tri-City Speedway) and Dave Murdick (Sharon Speedway). Also defending their home turf will be local gas-mashers Del Rougeux Jr. and Jeremiah Shingledecker. BRP Tour regulars Rex King Jr., Russell King, Kevin Hoffman, Tom Mattocks and Joe Crawford are also expected to take part in the 100-lap, $6000-to-win shootout.

In addition to the North-South 100 for the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series/BRP Modified Tour, Modified Madness will also feature Small-Block Modifieds and Mod Lites.
