SATURDAY SPECIAL AT PENN CAN FEATURES BIG LATE MODEL EVENT…$1100 TO WIN
Susquehanna, PA…The annual King of the Can “Saturday Night Special” at Penn Can Speedway this week will feature extra distance races with extra money on the line for the late models, super stocks, pure stocks, and four cylinders. Joining them will be the fan favorite CRSA sprint cars and the Xcel 600 modifieds.
The featured races of the night will be a big thirty lap late model feature paying the winner $1000 plus lap money. Added to the already increased purse, is another $100 compliments of a local late model fan making the winner’s share at least $1100. With Penn Can rules in affect, this should allow many of the central Pennsylvania cars an opportunity to race against Penn Can’s best.
The super stocks, pure stocks, and 4 cylinders will all have extra distance races with more money on the line. The great Penn Can fans have contributed lap money to the pot. Lap money will be randomly distributed to different positions each lap rather than on the leader. This will give more drivers an opportunity to take home extra dollars in the King of the Can races. There will also be a bonus program in place for the highest finishing pure stock competing in the Saturday Special and the following week’s Dart Dirt Series race. More information will follow at www.penncan.com.
Two traveling groups that have been popular with the Penn Can fans will also be in competition this night. The CRSA sprint cars and Xcel 600 modifieds will both be in competition. CRSA sprints have had three different winner, Jeff Van Steenburg, Brian Davis, and Chuck Alessi, while the 600 modifieds have been dominated by Butch Getz who has won both features. Gates will open at 3:00 with racing at 6:00 .
