Cleer Crowned Inaugural Mudder Truck Champ, Dellinger Doubles and Paden Repeats
Hartford, OH September 6, 2008 Racing action at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, September 6th featured "Something New" as the Mudder Trucks took to the Hartford, OH oval for the first time ever. When the checkered flag fell on the 12 lap feature event it was Sharon Speedway Push Truck Driver Jeff Cleer who captured the inaugural checkered flag over his fellow "Four Wheeling" competitors. In addition to Cleer Alan Dellinger "Doubled Up" yet again as he was victorious in the Tight-Seal Glass Block Pure Stock Feature event and the Tom's Sewer and Drain Service E-Mod Feature with Andy Paden collecting his third Limited Sprint feature win of the season.
Greenville, PA driver Andy Paden "Batted 1,000" this weekend as he backed up his feature victory at the Mercer Raceway Park on Friday night with his third Sharon Speedway Limited Sprint victory of 2008. Paden led the 15 lap event wire to wire to garner a convincing win over Jason Scoville. The reigning Divisional Champion Guy Griffin was third with Brandon Spithaler and Pete Miller III completing the top five.
Paden also captured the lone heat race event for the division that was held earlier in the evening.
An "Invert Six" redraw for the Tight-Seal Glass Block Pure Stock feature event placed Jeff Kravec and Bruce Redman on the front row of the feature event. Redman was determined to hold off the Division's Master, Alan Dellinger, as he immediately charged into the lead. Dellinger followed Redman for the first two circuits before taking the lead on lap three. Redman battled back and wrestled the lead away from Dellinger on lap five however Dellinger persevered and retook the lead for good on lap six. The event's final caution flew for debris on lap 11 however Redman was unable to overtake the Hermitage, PA veteran. Dellinger would lead the final four circuits to pick up his tenth Sharon Speedway Pure Stock victory of the season. Russ Byler was able to get by Redman in the closing laps to capture the runner-up spot. Redman held on for third over Larry Root and Stan Woomer.
Byler, Root and new father Mike Aley were victorious in Pure Stock heat race action.
Following his Pure Stock victory Dellinger would climb behind the wheel of the Dwayne Clay owned #008 E-Mod as he attempted to increase his E-Mod Win Tally to ten as well. Second place starter Howard Fraley would lead the first circuit with Jeff Hassay showing the way on lap two. Dellinger, who started in the sixth position, overtook Hassay on lap three and weathered two cautions to bring home the victory laurels yet again.
Conneaut, OH invader Joel Watson, who started 16th, collected the runner-up spot with Tim Deutsch, Hassay and Paul Phillips completing the top five.
Dellinger and Deutsch picked up the Tom's Sewer and Drain Service E-Mod preliminary events.
Jeff Cleer can normally be found running in the speedway or pushing off the Sprint cars on Saturday evenings however this week he donned a racing suit and helmet to compete in the inaugural "Mudder Truck" festivities. Cleer would lead the entire distance of the 12 lap Mudder Truck feature event to bring home the victory over Keith Felicetty, Ward Moore, John Sexton and fellow "Push Truck Driver" Cynthia Ambrose.
