This coming weekend the Mr. DIRTcar post season presses on as Rolling Wheels Raceway Park plays host to the 22nd Annual World Series Weekend September 26th and 27th. Once again, each of the Mr. DIRTcar traveling tours will be making a stop in Central New York for the two day World Series Weekend which will kick-off Friday night at 7pm.
Tickets for this great racing weekend will be priced at two different rates.
Friday admission will se set at $20 for Adults, $18 for Seniors (65+), $5 for kids (10-14), and FREE for those 9 and under. While Saturday night adults will enter for $25, Seniors $23, Kids (10-14) $8, and children 9 and under are FREE. A $40 combo package will be made available for 2-day spectator seating offering a savings of $5.
Friday night will be highlighted by the Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Series, as they will take part in the Paine Motorsports 75-lap Championship. Joining the 358-Modified stars will be the Parts Plus Big 6 Street Stock Series, as they will head to Rolling Wheels Raceway for the second time in 2008 for round number five of their six race tour. The Street Stock event will also mirror as the second installment of the 2008 Mr. DIRTcar Street Stock trail, which saw Nick Rizzo visit victory lane in round #1 at Canandaigua Speedway.
Big-Block Modified teams will also be able to enter the pit area Friday evening, as a special Big-Block warm-up session will be factored into the night’s schedule in anticipation of the BPG 200-lap Championship the following evening. The cars and stars of the Big-Block Modified ranks will have a chance to see the ‘Fast Track’ one night prior to their race event, in order to set fuel mileage and set up for the duel century grind that will feature pit stops.
With that said, Saturday night will see the return of the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Block Modifieds. Saturday night’s program will begin with hot laps at 3:30pm and Big-Block time trials at 4pm.
The tour has already made two stops this season at Rolling Wheels, with the first coming back on May 4th for the DIRT Challenge Cup. Billy Decker and Dale Planck took wins that evening in the Twin 50 main events. The tour then returned for its annual Labor Day event which again saw Decker claim victory in the 115-lap fuel guzzling feature.
Last season World Series Weekend featured Triple 50-lap mains for the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series. Brett Hearn, Gary Tomkins, and Decker each shared victory lane that night after 150-laps of racing. This Saturday night however the tables will be turned as the 200-lap format returns presented by BPG.
The Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Series will also hit the track Saturday night for a 30-lap Championship event. Chris Raabe is the current series point leader over Dan Wiesner, Greg Panunte, Tyler McPherson, and Mark D’Ilario.
While Wiesner sits second in the overall series points, he is the current leader in the Rolling Wheels track standings after 5 events. Wiesner leads Raabe, Todd Town, Kevin Ridley, and Justin Wright in the top five.
Joining the Big-Block Modifieds and Sportsman Modifieds on Saturday night will be the Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Series. The Pro Stocks will battle around the Elbridge speed plant in the DTD Pro Stock 30, one week after running a 30-lap event at Canandaigua.
DirtTrackDigest.com has come on to sponsor the 30-lap Pro Stock Championship, and will also be providing merchandise for the Speedway ’s 50/50 drawings on Saturday night. Since 1999, DirtTrackDigest.com has been one of the few racing news websites to have a professional feel, easy navigation, fast loading and high content - DTD presents a unique experience for users.
