Drivers Set to Clash for Cash Thanks to Lucas Oil
As part of the Benson Auto Parts Applefest Shootout weekend presented by Imagefactor.ca the 3nd Annual Lucas Oil Clash for Cash will take place on Saturday, September 27th. This All-Star race that pits the best from the Lucas Oil Canadian Series against the best from the Lucas Oil Shootout Series will see the top drivers compete for a total $5,000.00 purse for 15 laps!
The Lucas Oil Canadian Series is a six race series made up of two Eastern Ontario tracks, three Quebec tracks and one New York State track. Now in its 5th season, the Lucas Oil Canadian Series hosts events at Autodrome Granby, Autodrome Drummond, Autodrome Edelweiss, Brockville Speedway, Mohawk International Raceway and Cornwall Speedway throughout the summer.
The Lucas Oil Shootout is a separate series that takes place in Western Ontario and Western New York State. In its second season the series held events at Ransomville Speedway, Merrittville Speedway, Humberstone Speedway and Ohsweken Speedway.
Guaranteed starters for the 2008 edition of the Lucas Oil Clash for Cash include from the Lucas Oil Canadian Series; 2008 Champion David Hebert, 2007 Applefest Shoot Out and Mr. Dirt Champion Mario Clair as well as Quebec Modified stand out Kayle Robidoux.
Guaranteed starters from the Lucas Oil Shootout Series are Champion and the 2008 Ransomville Speedway Champion Pete Bicknell. Bicknell won the inaugural running of this event in 2006. Also guaranteed to start will be the 2008 Merrittville Speedway Champion Chad Brachmann and Merrittville regular Boyd MacTavish.
These six drivers will be joined by the four heat winners of the 50 lap main event to be held the same night. If one of these six drivers is not able to attend then the next driver in their respective points in attendance will fill the position.
Together the Lucas Oil Clash for Cash 15 lap event and the ImageFactor.ca 50 lap Shootout boasts an impressive purse of over $19,000.00. “It is a purse structure that keeps everybody happy from the little guy to the big dollar teams” states track promoter Mark Rinaldi. The ten drivers that make the Clash for Cash will be guaranteed to go home with a minimum $650.00 and if one of these drivers can pull of the double win he will walk away from the Brighton Speedway with $3,500.00 in their pocket!
The 358 Modifieds headline an action packed weekend that includes the Quinte Towing Stingers, Picture This Signs and Design Pure Stocks, Bill’s John’s Comp 4, Brighton Automotive Pro Stock, Bainer’s Radiators Canadian Modifieds and the Leon’s Furniture School Busses plus a special appearance from the Lucas Oil DIRT Sportsman Challenge Cup Friday night. A rain date for Saturday nights action is set for Sunday September 28th at 2pm if necessary.
