WEATHER STOPS BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY’S POINT SEASON FINALE
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (September 27, 2008) – The combination of a wet forecast
and threatening conditions forced Bridgeport Speedway track management
to cancel the final “Starlit Saturday Night” race program of the 2008
racing season scheduled for September 27th. With the point season
ending, two Hill brothers have won Bridgeport Speedway championships.
Jesse Hill is the 2008 track champion in the 358 Sportsman class while
younger brother Travis has claimed the GM Sportsman championship. In the
Outlaw Stock division, Rich Reider is the 2008 champion. The postponed
Outlaw Stock feature from September 20th has been tentatively
re-scheduled for Turkey Chase weekend on November 8th and 9th.
The next racing event at Bridgeport Speedway will be the 4th annual
Atlantic Coast Championship slated for the weekend of October 11 and 12.
For the first time ever, all regular Bridgeport Speedway divisions will
compete at this event with racing to take place on both the 5/8th mile
and 1/4 mile dirt ovals.
Bridgeport Speedway provides a safe and secure family atmosphere, free
parking, giveaways and fan participation games. Billed ‘The Fastest Dirt
Track in the East’, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile dirt
oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and is
located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and
Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.
