Thunder Mountain Speedway was victim to the horrible weekend weather that passed through the southern tier this past weekend, and had to pull the plug and reschedule the Hurricane Harry Uhl Jr. Memorial weekend events.
Scheduling make-ups this time of year can prove to be challenging as many area speedways are racing late season specials to put the final touches on their 2008 race season.
In observance of that, Thunder Mountain Speedway management has found it necessary to shrink the original two day race format, into one. The sixth annual Hurricane Harry Uhl Jr. festivities will take place this coming Saturday, October 4th, with racing at 3:00 p.m., and gates opening at 3:00 p.m.
In action will be the:
Sportsman Modified Open in a 30 lap $750 to win event
I.M.C.A. Modifieds (non-sanctioned) running I.M.C.A. rules 25 lap event
“Hurricane” Harry Uhl Pure Stock/ Hurricane Street Stock Memorial 55 lap event
Pro-Flow Machine/ Harry’s Automotive “Hurricane Dash for Cash”
4 Cylinder Super Stock Open 20 lap event
4 Cylinder FWD Bandits 20 lap event
Road Warrior/Junk Yard Dog “Down and Dirty 30”
XCEL 600 CC Modifieds 20 lap event
Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club Open
If time allows following racing there will be a “Pit” Party with music, bonfire, and just plain fun.
Thunder Mountain Speedway is located off exit 8 Interstate 81, then route 79 west for 5 miles, turn right on Hunts Corner Rd. and follow signs. For race day information call (607)849-7889 or go to www.thunderracetrack.com
