Rolling Wheels Doubleheader Rolls on Into Super DIRT Week XXXVII; Sprint Car Challenge Highlights Weekend on Saturday
Weedsport, NY – October 7, 2008 – By Dan Kapuscinski, Rolling Wheels Raceway PR Coordinator
As a part of Super DIRT Week XXXVII, Rolling Wheels Raceway is offering a fall doubleheader unlike any other. The ‘Fast Track’ will hold two consecutive nights of racing on Friday and Saturday October 10-11 with some of the hottest open wheel action anywhere on the east coast and it all starts each night at 7pm.
Friday night will be highlighted by the Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Series, as they will compete in a 100-lap Championship event presented by SUNY Canton. The Super DIRT Week special for the 358’s will be extra special after losing their event on World Series Weekend due to a rainy two days which saw Friday night’s event cancelled.
Last season Tim Fuller ran to the checkers in the 100-lap event, and Fuller seems to be well in order heading into Super DIRT Week. LaBatt Blue RaceFest Weekend at Canandaigua Speedway saw Fuller pull down a runner-up position in both the 358-Modified event on Friday night, and the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Block Modifieds on Saturday evening.
Joining the 358’s at Rolling Wheels on October 10 will be the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Series. The Sportsman have been in action at the Wheels multiple times in 2008, with top series runner Greg Panunte picking up the most recent checkered flag.
The Sportsman Series runners will run a 30-lap Championship, which was won one year ago by eventual 2007 series champion, Joe Williams.
If you are a fan of sprint car racing, then you must come back to the Rolling Wheels Raceway on Saturday, October 11. The Super DIRT Week Sprint Car Challenge will be held that night with the best in the URC/ASCS/ESS/and CRSA Sprint Series going at it.
The CRSA Sprints will be competing in their own sanctioned event, while the drivers of the URC/ASCS/and ESS will do battle in a combined 25-lap winged special. Each feature event will be 25-laps in length. Last season Chuck Hebing reigned supreme in the Sprint Challenge which had to be run on Sunday night after rained plagued the Syracuse area on Saturday of DIRT Week XXXVI.
Tickets for this doubleheader will be made available at the gate, which two different rates. Friday’s show will be priced at $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, $8 for kids 10-14, and children 9 and under are FREE. Saturday’s Sprint Special will admit adults for $25, seniors at $23, kids 10-14 will again be $8, while children 9 and under are FREE.
A two-day combo package for spectator seating will be made available at $40.
