Barrett Awarded the Victory in the 3rd Annual Cumberland Truck Equipment Susquehanna Showdown After Post Race Tech Inspection at SSP on Sunday Night

Newberrytown, PA (October 5, 2008) – Ashley Barrett of Shippensburg was awarded the win of the 3rd Annual Cumberland Truck Equipment Susquehanna Showdown after race winner Scott Palmer was disqualified in the post race technical inspection. Frank Polimeda of Fort Lee , NJ , won the Legends Cars Pro/Masters Class feature with Glenmoore’s Buddy Sload Jr. winning the Legends Cars Semi Pro main event. York Haven’s Daryl Sipe won the 15-lap Speedway Auto Sales/York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van World Championship.

The 50-lap Cumberland Truck Equipment Late Model feature event began with Ashley Barrett taking the lead from his pole position. Jake Jones and Scott Palmer pursued Barrett over the first quarter of the race until the first caution flew on lap 12 for a one car incident. Another caution on lap 14 slowed the field once again. After the second restart, Palmer made the pass for the lead coming out of turn two on the 18th circuit. Palmer set the pass for the next 20 laps until the next caution flag period. Through the remainder of the race, Barrett stayed close but was unable to challenge for the lead. Palmer went on to take the win but was disqualified in post race technical inspection for an engine component not in compliance with the rules. This moved everyone up one position, giving the victory to Ashley Barrett, Derek Byler finished second, followed by Steve Weikel, Jake Jones and Carl Graves. Cam Zeigler, Chaz Walls, Jerry Bard, Scott Fisher and Dave Sokoloski rounded out the top ten. Qualifying heat races were won by Byler, Fries, Knaub, Derrick Mease and Travis Mease. Jerry Bard won the B-Main and Denny Willey won the C-Main.

The 25-lap Legends Cars Pro/Masters feature event found a four car battle for the entire event with Josh Morrow leading the first 8 circuits, Frank Polimeda took over the lead on lap nine and never looked back at the challengers behind him for the rest of the way. Polimeda won with Stehen Nederostek finishing second, followed by Tom Mayberry, Josh Morrow and Scott Houdeschell. Pat McDermott and Polimeda won their respective qualifying heat races.

The 25-lap Legends Cars Semi Pro feature had Buddy Sload Jr. claiming the victory after leading 24 of the 25 laps. T.J. Mayberry finished second, followed by Drew Weiser, Scott Wilkerson and Mike Mayberry. Kara Clarke and Sload won the qualifying heat races.

The 15-lap Speedway Auto Sales/York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van World Championship found Daryl Sipe leading the final six laps to take the win. Early pacesetter Kenny Latz retired from the race with engine failure on lap nine. Robert Fryberger finished second, followed by John Durussell, Dan Snyder and Jason Anderson.
