Y108 Thrillbilly Country Bash caps Lernerville’s 40th Anniversary Season with a bang!

Sarver, PA (October 9, 2008) After another exhilarating season of Fab Four Racing and Big Ticket events like the Firecracker 100 and Silver Cup for the World of Outlaws Late Model and Sprint Car Series, the Lernerville Speedway dropped the checkered flag on the 40th Anniversary Season with a big party complete with rockin’ country music, monster trucks, fireworks and an enormous bonfire. The Inaugural Y108 Thrillbilly Country Bash was the perfect end to the season. The laid back atmosphere permitted employees and fans alike to have a good time with good people.

The crowd was a little bit different than our normal clientele, but there were quite a few familiar faces in the crowd like Sprint Car veterans Gary and Sheila Rankin, as well as Street Stock drivers Pat Hanley and Jim Fosnaught, to name a few!

The show began with rising local star Sarah Marince and the “Firecracker 100 House Band” NOMaD. Both acts mixed a variety of original songs and covers of popular hit sings. Between sets, monster trucks AfterShock and Warrior thrilled the crowd with an aerial assault which led to mass destruction of the cars below. Meanwhile, the ride-along AmeriCrush Monster Truck thrilled hundreds of fans throughout the night

The show hit another gear when local Country/Rock band “The Chris Higbee Project” took the stage. Higbee and his boys flat out rock and he stole the show by disappearing during the set, only to reappear atop the press box to rock out on his fiddle. The monster trucks rolled back out for another round of carnage, but in addition to destroying the cars below, both trucks suffered mechanical, a testament to the amount of destruction they cause. But both trucks would return for more action later in the night, much to the pleasure of the fired up crowd!

The show hit its high point with the red hot “The Lost Trailers”! The up and coming superstars started their crowd thrilling antics in the VIP Hospitality tent where dozens of fans embraced the rising stars during a Y108 Meet & Greet. They came through the tent with the same energy and intensity they later displayed on stage. They opened the set with the football version of their smash hit “Holler Back!” The alternate version pays homage to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the “fans in the stands”. Their set was non-stop rockin’ country capped by a cover of David Lee Murphy’s “Dust on the Bottle” and the original version of the smash hit “Holler Back!”; for which the Y108 Country Crew Monty, Zeke, Ally and Wookie joined the band on stage!

After their set, Lost Trailers front men Ryder Lee and Stokes Nielson then spent over an hour in the GottaRace.com souvenir trailer signing CDs and other merchandise, as well as meeting hundreds of adoring fans!

Grammy Award winner LeeAnn Womack brought the show to an end with her soulful sounds and a stirring rendition of “I Hope You Dance!” No sooner did Lee Ann Womack finish her final song “Ashes by now”, than the guys from Premier Pyrotechnics lit up the sky with a ground shaking fireworks display. These guys have raised the bar to unseen heights with their pyrotechnic magic at Lernerville Speedway this season!! Contrary to what some fireworks companies may try to make you believe, it’s not about quantity, it’s about quality and Premier Pyrotechnics is has set a new standard!

The night came to mellow end as a huge pile of pallets and recently blown down trees was set alight in the pits. The enormous bonfire was surrounded by hundreds of people looking to warm up on a chilly fall night.

The Y108 Thrillbilly Country Bash was the final event of the 40th Anniversary Season of Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway, but plans are already in progress for the 2009 Season, some of the highlights of which will be released in the near future! 2008 Division Recaps are also in the works and will be released each of the next few weeks.
